I've been eyeing the note3 pro but it's selling like hot cake here. Mi china website is selling every 3days but not able to grab it. Sold out in  under a minute!
Scalpers hike the price to 1700rmb!

I wonder if it will ever get here... Most of the time, low end phone reach here faster. The one that we desired rarely get here.

I also received it today. I helped my foreign worker to a new Xiaomi phone. To be honest, Im quite surprised by the quality of the phone compared to Mi3 that I bought more than a year ago.

However, there's something strange about the phone. I was surprised at first and thought that the X10 was really slow when it took forever to boot up. Luckily it was only slow during the initial bootup. It was quite smooth overall, and the only thing I found lacking as usual would be the camera. The picture quality is so so considering it was a 13MP shooter. Speaker wise was much better than the Asus Zenfone 5 that I also helped him buy earlier. The fingerprint scanner was even faster than my S6 Edge. Maybe the larger scanning surface really helped.

I should have bought it a day earlier using Monyet100 but end up using Maybank card. Just about RM7 difference. Overall, I feel there's nothing much to complain about considering it is after all a sub RM600 phone. I think I might get more orders tomorrow once he shared it with his fellow colleagues. For sub RM800, there is nothing better than Xiaomi.

BTW, gtronics is actually Satu Gadget. I was surprised too but glad that I can get peace of mind by buying from Satu Gadget.

This one have to wait for him to explore slowly. I havent tried any app with it yet.

However, I had Mi3 before and my cousin had Mi4i, but we never really had any problem with it before. In fact, I didnt like any of the custom rom for Mi3.

Seem like Lazada again offer Monyet100 code. Can buy this phone quite cheap if you dont mind the warranty. Else wait Mi Malaysia bring in few months later.

As usual, Xiaomi only sell outdated tech here...

I bought the Helio X10 version for my worker already. I can say judging from the phone, its a good buy even if its powered by Helio X10. Once you upgrade it to Snapdragon 650, it will be faster. However, these are still mid tier phone. It really shows... the screen was so-so, speaker is slightly louder than Mi3 but not great, camera is so-so. If you think about it, what changed since Mi3? Its like we are being capped under Snapdragon 800/801.

... with ridiculous price.

i saw someone selling 16GB RN2 for the same price as RN3  doh.gif

i reckon the same applies.

RN3 import is cheaper than RN2 official...

I think official RN3 pro will cost at least 7xx... buy import RN3 (X10) using Lazada, RM590 or so...

Mi is banking on this phone to take market share in India and probably everywhere else. Margins from phones is never Mi's priority but distributing their devices wide and far and then use their services/data gathering on the phone to generate revenue. Sounds familiar? Google.

Plus when they have the scale they will be able to command more new tech at even lower prices. Sound familiar? Apple.

If we can invest in the company it is certainly going to be a growth company.

I think Mi strategy only works in China. Elsewhere they are just continuing to clear out stock to third world countries that didnt have the purchasing power. The competition is so heat up in China that even Samsung had to take a hit there with its low-mid range phone. Every now and then, there will be a new comer challenging for the best bang for bucks.

Will Mi have the scale to command new tech at low price? Unfortunately no. Even Samsung cant emulate Apple success at getting ridiculously priced new tech. Apple only needed 2 specs in the tens of millions. Its much easier to do that than say 5-10 different specs.

Actually I find that we have contrasting answers.

The RN3 that I bought from 1G via Lazada did not have many bloatware installed. Its pretty standard like global rom. However many report that their phone came with bloatware.

there`s no redmi note 3 with snapdragon cpu? Meaning malaysia official launch will be only redmi note 3 pro?

It is not strange when manufacturer choose a different soc for different market. Basically Mi China has a RN3 with Helio X10 and thus renamed the one using SD650 to RN3 Pro.

Here, they will only release the one with SD650 thus eliminate the need to rename it with a Pro. Pretty much like Redmi 2 which has a normal version and enhanced version.

But still, its basically the same phone with different soc. Screen, camera, speaker would be mediocre at best. Performance would be good but that depends on the thermal management. A72 are designed to fix A57 problematic overheating problem. I think really need to see how RN3 handle the heat from the high performance dual core in the long term.
