Tried to Google around, I saw the price for curtains is somewhere around RM200 each for size of around 140cm/145cm x 250cm/260cm.

example from Ikea - Curtains & Blinds

If were to include the railing as well, say another RM100, which gonna make a total cost of RM300 per window.

If I got 5 windows to put the curtain, it gonna cost me about RM1.5k (5 x Rm300).

This seems reasonable to me, but friends once said before, the curtain gonna cost at least need RM3k for one house.

Which seems more accurate here?

And also, which is better between curtains and blinds? What are the main advantages and disadvantages for these two type? In terms of value for money - limited budget, sad.gif

Curtain of course cheaper and less maintenance.

Blinds are so 2005, now all back to curtain, full height though..

Curtains cost depends a lot on the material you pick...

I just go but material that I like and get someone to sew it for me. Sewing curtain is not complicated like making clothings. I wonder why they are so expensive. My cost was easily cut more than 50%. I am lucky because my sister in law can sew. I just do measurement and tell her what to do wink.gif

Could not recall exactly how much. I have curtains and laces for 7 double pane windows, 1 pane window, and long drape from ceiling down (about 14' width). I think no more than 1.5k. For my sliding door (4 pane), I use vertical blind. since it will open nicely without having bulky cloth at both ends if using drape.

I think it was expensive because you go to curtain shop. I bought curtain material from textile/fabric shop (e.g. Jakel). Look for offer materials laugh.gif . Anyway, like you said, buy ready-made probably cheaper if the size is standard. Anything custom made like clothing is more expensive nod.gif

curtains or blinds both are damn expensive. custom or not. its all about the material. ready made timber blinds will be about >RM200. PVC or aluminum is cheaper. i got a set of 180cm x 150cm PVC venetian for RM40 only for my kitchen. curtains to be nice its gotta have some weight to it to drape nicely. it hurts the wallet, but can really see a difference when cheap material is put up. worth the money to put nice curtains. will last a long time. and as mentioned above, try to get it full length from the ceiling down to the floor. baru nice ada klass hahaha.

i have a big window above my kitchen sink (live in apt). no issues in that regard. the one i bought is to replace an old one which is just dirty from dust and bengkok sini sana. so for RM60, why not. give new life to the apartment. of course shouldnt put curtains above stove area. dont cook too much so not much oil issues.

The vertical blind I think was about RM300.
For kitchen windows (double pane - Nako windows), I used Venetian blind. Windows located about 12' from kitchen hob. I have good hood that suck fume/oil vapor to outdoor. So, my kitchen blind is never oily.
All my curtains and even vertical blind I installed myself. I have all kind of tools in house. Can say I'm quite a handyman from piping to electrical wiring/fitting wink.gif

I see, my budget seems couldn't get me a good hod for this. It seems like blind is better than curtain for kitchen?

Do you think tinting the windows is better than using curtain/blind?

Blinds come with the whole set.

Bought at spotlight in ikano. They had a big sale for PVC blinds. The timber ones a bit Mahal.

The size about 180x150 I think for RM40 and 150x150 for RM20.
