My brother have been spending loads on jerseys. I think he spent out most of the allowance I give him for this. Responding to the poll here, I wanna make another poll to find out how much you will fork out to buy a jersey.

Comments as well? biggrin.gif

I got a couple original jerseys (empty) in the past few seasons.

Perhaps the threadstarter can add another option :- original jersey (past season) below $100.

i buy only off season jersey... right after they introduce a new kit for the team. Its relatively cheaper than buy when on season.
plus adding name and number will prolly cost as much as a new kit.

The reason why I buy original jerseys only and sometimes add them with EPL Name/Number and Badges:

1. Grade A or whatever you call it are normally one size only.. it's more to XL but it's not big enough for me. I prefer XXL or even XXXL ones and you can only get them by buy the original ones.

2. These jerseys will have 'values' later, 5-10 years later. Especially if you add them with EPL names/numbers & badges or even the player sized EPL names/numbers & badges. When you sell them at ebay, they are very sought after. For example the old adidas Manchester United jerseys (worn during the 80s and 90s) are very sought after and can be sold up to RM500 above.

3. When you buy the original ones, the money goes to the club you support. The money you use to buy Grade A jerseys will go to the pirates in Thailand.. hihihi..

4. Although the Grade A jerseys looks similar to the ones worn by the players, there are so many differences when you compare them closely.

that really depends on whether r u a collector or not lah. if me, will pay up to RM500 (or slightly more lah) for some really hard-to-get jerseys for my collection, but it's all up to your perception of their value and maybe to an extent, future value as well.

i can't even remember the most expensive jersey that I have in my collection lah, but i know i never go above RM500 for any one, unless it's really really something that i've been looking for etc. but let's do a comparison if you were to buy something ori with ori NN lah;

Adidas Shirt - RM259
NN - GERRARD 8 - RM71
EPL Patch - RM39 (pair)
Total - RM369

so i think that's the standard prices nowadays if you're going for a complete replica look. if compared to fakes - sure lah the fakes cheap maybe up RM100 for the full 'fake' look? can't really compare then can you?

so it's basically up to own indv taste and preference lah, and i don't think ppl will laugh or look at you one kind if you sport a fake when u support ur team at the local pubs/mamaks unless u get a really really bad fake lah.... nod.gif

Can't see any shops selling Bremen in KL, or even Singapore for that matter! Looks like your best bet would be from the internet...

now this is quite interesting actually, as I too cannot confirm if the actual player jerseys uses transfer (aka sticker) or the flock (cotton). maybe schmeichel7 can help? nod.gif

anyway, from my experience all shops in KL/Singapore sells the flock ones, be it for replica or player-sized. however, in the UK, some shops sell the transfers for replica and/or player-sized. maybe it's the weather, etc, dunno lah. but from what i can see in live games, looks like flock to me.

It's not sticker, it's made out of a material called felt... Feels like velvet. Below the items, they use rough sand glue.. This sand glue is unique, when cold it is rough like sand... If you want info, visit the company that produces it... Lextra under Chris Kay:

http://www.chriskay.com/

Only one season, in 2000-2001 season where they used plastic type of name numbers. This you can see for yourself if you surf in ebay and look for match worn jerseys in that season.

Of course u can.. If you want the replica size ones, go to al-ikhsan or real one zone. If you want the player size ones, slightly bigger than the replicas.. it's a bit tough because it's not sold here in Malaysia. Can order from Singapore or UK.

eh i believe that you are referring to FLOCK as FELT. as for sticker, i know what glove20 meant cos when i purchased some shirts from the UK, it was all done in transfers (i.e. sticker similar to other teams' NN). so my next question is, which shop is this that sold you the sticker NN? very curious as to what they actually sell, as i haven't come across any EPL sticker NN in KL...ori ones i meant.

so schmeichel7, this means that PS now uses the FLOCK/FELT?

Yes, player size names and numbers uses the flock/felt like the ones sold at al-ikhsan. Manufactured by lextra @ chris kay.

Dude.. I don't know what you mean stickers.

Players and even those sold in al-ikhsan or real one zone are materials made by lextra. Lextra is from a company called Chris Kay. Have you visited their website? See for yourself how the items look like.

Basically their product is categorized into 6 technologies:

Lextra(R) Microfibre
Lextra(R) 3D
ArtFlock
ArtWeld
Art-Tex
ArtCut PVC Free

Lextra(R) 3D is the technology used to make the EPL names and numberings and also the EPL badge and UEFA champions league badge. Even the 2006 world cup badge and euro 2004 badges were made by Chris Kay using this method. That's why if you buy the EPL names from Al-Ikhsan, on the thick plastic film cover of the letters are written 'Lextra 3D'. Here is sample of product:

user posted image

ArtFlock and ArtWeld are used to make the sponsors logo on the front jerseys, such as AIG on Man United's jersey, SAMSUNG MOBILE on Chelsea's jerseys. Here is sample of their products:

user posted image user posted image

Even the sizings info on the back of the jersey is printed by Chris Kay. It is made by using Art-Tex technology. Here is sample:

user posted image

And the names numberings for Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool in Champions League and also for England, Real Madrid and Italy National jerseys are made using ArtCut PVC Free technology:

user posted image

Visit Chris Kay's website for more info:

http://www.chriskay.com/lextra.html
http://www.chriskay.com/lextra3d.html
http://www.chriskay.com/artflock.html
http://www.chriskay.com/artweld.html
http://www.chriskay.com/arttex.html
http://www.chriskay.com/artpvc.html

So, answering on your question.. What kind of name numbering do u mean? EPL? Then it should be using felt or flock like the Lextra 3D design. If it's champions league then it should be thin printing like the artpvc design.

This is why Grade AAA or fake jerseys still can't beat the ori ones.. Thanks to Chris Kay

If from real one, then it's original la. I know them.. I think what you meant soft sticker one is the felt velvet one, made by Lextra 3D by Chris Kay. U better check properly what is informed at their website.

eh glove20, if you bought from Real One, for the EPL definitely not the sticker type but the felt type. if you have the UCL one, then it would be sticker type NOT the felt type. hope you got that!

actually i quite liked Kappa's tight-fitting lycra shirts, starting from Italy's 2000 kit. esp the really elastic-looking type material, very body hugging. however, not all can fit though... smile.gif

if i cant afford 1 for that particular year i would never buy at all....cause by buying fake jersey is not supporting your football club...

i would rather spend hundered's on one jersey then buying a fake ones.....the quality and the class that the original one has ...not any fake even aaa class jersey can compete brows.gif icon_rolleyes.gif ..hehhe

i dont agree with u because sometimes we love the other club jersey design. i'm a liverpool supporter and of course i'll buy ori one for liverpool but i also buy the highest grade one for other club like milan and barca coz i like their design. i can't afford to buy 3-4 ori jerseys every season because they're many other important things to buy. and for the fake one i can wear it for futsal or football game.

It shouldn't be hard plastic but soft velvet type... Hard to describe, if got time, go to al-ikhsan or real one zone store at BB plaza and see for yourself how it looks like.

hmm that's strange. which shop did you go to? and which patch was this? if it's the normal blue one, then only Real One has and they tend to jack up the price when they know there is demand. however, they won't increase too much lah, maybe another RM10-RM20 extra. if it's the gold one, then both Real One and Al-Ikhsan have stock and Al-Ikhsan normally sells for RM39 per pair. dunno about Real One though...

well yup 3 star when they won it, and 4 star after they won it. for those interested, the material is also different for both shirts, 3 star more 'paper' feel, while 4 star more cotton feel.

KL is selling only the shirt at selected Puma stores, and the NN can be done @ Sg Wang at either Real One or Al-Ikhsan. but dunno what names are left though...good luck!

The home jersey I saw at Al-Ikhsan langkawi. 2 pieces left, both Large size. Could still be there, price was RM239.

Away jersey.. hmmm... not sure where. Did you try and check at Real One Zone store at BB plaza as well?

Last chance is to buy online using ebay. There are still loads of them and sold in a cheaper price because United will launch it's new home and away jersey this July. The away is rumoured to be black.

Yup I check at the BB plaza already, got their phone number and called them to ask as well.

ebay I'm worrying whether the jersey is original or not. I saw one said 100% original, 500 positive comments on the seller, yet the photo of the home jersey still look diff from the original 1......

My Idea,
buy online, more choice, much cheaper too....
my choice Subside sport, kitbag, JJB or in Klang Valley MU official merchandise store.
If you have buddy in UK, get help from them, now the price more cheaper from here.

MU official merchandise store... i'm not sure if it's still around anymore in KL.

Subside, kitbag, JJB etc... they charge you quite a lot in terms of delivery postafe fee... If you want to buy from them, better buy for more than 1 item because it is charged per delivery.

I got a question for you guys.
I bought an MU jersey from al-ikhsan somewhere in bukit bintang last week. At the same time my wife ordered an MU jersey for woman from manutd.com. When the package arrived, I notice that there is a different with the two jerseys. When I look at the bottom part at the back on the left side, one jersey got "Dry Fit" and the other one got "Dry Sphere". The question is why it is different? Is one of them fake? For your info the meterial is similar for both jerseys.

no worries mate. one of them is actually a newer version, i think DrySphere. Man U's kit was manufactured in 2006 when Nike was still promoting DryFit, thus all kits produced by Nike then will have this 'technology'. However, by 2007, Nike launched DrySphere, of which this tech will then be incorporated in all new jerseys in 2007. Thus when Man U's 2006 kit was reproduced in 2007 (as no more stock) the new kit will have the DrySphere wording/tech.

both should be ori judging from your sources. then you'll be the envy of most Man U fans, having own 2 original home kits! and both 'versions' some more! smile.gif

i prefer the original one without the player's name and number. cuz players tend to change clubs quite often.
still keep this MU silver long sleeve reversible jersey bought for 299bucks back in 2001. priceless!

At the current prices, I can only afford to buy outdated jerseys. Example, Al-Ikhsan have Arsenal's 2003 jersey on sale for RM85; the Lotto outlet in Pertama Complex was selling Juventus' Lotto jerseys (dunno which year, but very old edi) for RM90. Those are the only originals I can afford. Otherwise I'll buy AAA/AA jerseys. No choice.

Guys, I've problem to choose a right size, pls help. I saw ebay selling some MU home jerseys for last season, but some said US M size, some UK M size, then some said US M size = UK L size....then there is one seller told me M size but Height written 188cm on the jersey, however I saw my friend's M size written 178cm, how come so many differences on the same Nike jersey ?

wow! this one better consult resident Nike and Man U expert, schmeichel7. best thing is, ask other forummers who has the originals, and confirm once and for all the sizes for the ori kits. and then, state your size as well, so can compare easily.

UK and US size are only different for shoe sizing only. For example, a UK size 10 jogging shoes is different to a US size 10. This doesn't imply on soccer jerseys. All soccer jerseys are standard with same measurement (based on brands). Here is a list of football jersey sizes based on brand:

Nike Sizes

Soccer Jerseys - Mens

Medium 29 - 30 inches
Large 31 - 32 inches
X-Large 33 - 34 inches

Instead of worrying about UK M size or US M size for a football jersey, just follow the guide above. There is no such thing as US Medium or UK Medium for football jerseys. Hope this clears matter.

Wao thanks schmeichel7 ! Really good reference. But it's wierd ler, the ebay shirt really printed different measurement for M size compare with my friend's jersey, and I think they both are authentic original Nike jersey.

Item 1 (Click) - Size M, Heigh 188, GB 45 - 47

Item 2 (Click) - It stated "This jersey is a UK-Medium (which appears on the jersey label) which is equivalent to a U.S. MEN'S SMALL. AGAIN, PLEASE UNDERSTAND...THE TAG ON THE JERSEY SHOWS "M" for the UK size MEDIUM, but fits more like a US Adult small. UK sizes tend to run approxiamtely one size larger than US sizes."

Item 1 CONFIRMED pirate. look also know. collar also look weird. look closely at the inside of the shirt for its measurements, GB45/47 but state size M. PIRATE lah....GB45/47 is actually XL...

Item 2 not sure yet, cos no pics of actual product. i think what he was trying to say is that UK M fits like a US S. but must confirm what is in the inside, as per explanation above....

Item 1 yes CONFIRMED 100% fake. Look at the Champions League badge. It is so POOR and looks fake:

user posted image

Lextra ones (originals) are very nice and detailed. Look at the samples of original badges below:

user posted image

user posted image

user posted image

The jersey's material also looks shiny and fake. Look at the picture which shows the sizing at the collars:

user posted image

The material is shiny, the size printing is poor... The sizing info is also INCORRECT! 45/47? That's a XL size measurement! Same like the fake jersey I last time got.. Check out the link to my bad experience at my siggy below...

Pricing tag here also looks fake:
user posted image

When did Nike have 'gold coloured' tags? There is no printed barcodes or Design Code number on it...

Item 2.... my bet is it is fake also. Why?

From his Feedback Profile (to view it, click the 'numbers' beside the sellers name or click the sellers name) you will see the past history of his previous sales... Funnily enough I can see only Small and Large. Small for M size where he said UK M size is more like a US small size, while UK XL size is more like a US Large size. Here is the facts... There is no such thing as that. US don't have specific measurement for soccer jerseys (basically because soccer is not that popular there).

Second fact is.... don't you wonder that grade AAA or stupid fake jerseys only come in 2 sizes only nowadays.. M and XL? Why the hell is this guy selling only UK M and XL sized jerseys? Just ignore the UK M is like a US S or whatever crap he is saying. He is selling fake jerseys and I hate fake jerseys....

What do you mean Malaysia jersey fake? Referring to Aizusan's posting? I never said that. His jersey is 100% original la.

The one that I say fake is the Man United ebay jerseys that is asked to be analyzed by Forever94539. Next time check posting properly la

you're right about the Asian Cup 2007 giving Malaysia a great impact, but sad to say that our national team didn't rise to the occasion. sedih lah tengok dia orang main macam budak2 aje...so very very hard for me to put any of their names on the back of my Nike kit, they don't deserve the honour. sad.gif

My order for the new EPL letters, number (RONALDO 7) and EPL Champions 06/07 badges from singapore has arrived... yippeeee...

user posted image

user posted image

I've found out that the EPL champions badge as usual will be 2 layered. One layer will be the lextra layer and another will be a non-lextra golden layer. Last season the non-lextra layer was navy blue (on the lion used by Chelsea's champions badges).

As you can see from the back of the EPL badges, there is another extra layer. Normal EPL badges doesn't have this:

I 'cungkil' a bit to see a sneak view of the layer.... Cannot take it off or else I am in big trouble to allign it back properly:

Once the new Man United home kit arrives, I will apply it (iron it) and then show to you guys... how it will look like!

Yes they are. I think you can buy from al-ikhsan la.... easier. But they still don't have the new EPL badges yet. But I believe the EPL letters and numbers sold at al-ikhsan are player versions. Player sized versions are only made by lextra. Besides, the pricing of the items at al-ikhsan/real one zone seems to indicate this. The numbers are RM35 (last season was RM29 and smaller) and the letters are RM6 or RM7 (no difference to last season's replica.. but the size of player versions are still small compared to last season.. so kira fair la).

The badges I bought from singapore is RM56 per pair. Not sure how much it is here..

as far as I know, the sell the original Lextra ones. of course, they do have custom made NNs (i.e. NOT from original suppliers) for bulk order kits, etc, so they may have some custom made NNs that look like EPL fonts, but cheaper & diff material. you would have to enquire from them on this.

original ones are usually felt material, while the patches would have a plastic layer on top with Lextra all over it.

went down to Sg Wang/BB Plaza yest, and saw the new stuff. loadsa new kits;

Real One - Chelsea A, Benfica H and A, Arsenal A, Barca A, Bayern H
Al-Ikhsan - Arsenal A, Barca A, Bayern H, Japan H

Al-Ikhsan even got sale now, RM99 for WC2006 Nike kits, namely Portugal H & A, Holland A, South Korea H and A, Mexico H and A.

as for NNs, yup the patches are not in yet, bu NNs are already selling like hot cakes. Al-Ikhsan ran out of A, R, E and the No 1 (seems that a lot of TORRES supporters out there), while Real One has most NNs in stock.

Man U's NEW home kit is already in Al-Ikhsan BB Plaza! heard that it's selling like hot cakes already...

latest is that letters A R E and the number 1 is already out of stock, with replenishment coming in within this week. and the patches will be in too. letters are RM6 each, number RM35 each, and the patch i think would range between RM39-RM49 per pair.

What do you mean Malaysia jersey fake? Referring to Aizusan's posting? I never said that. His jersey is 100% original la.

The one that I say fake is the Man United ebay jerseys that is asked to be analyzed by Forever94539. Next time check posting properly la

Errr, if you see correctly i was actually asking a question. Meaning i was uncertain. So i guess perhaps you should be checking the posts properly too =) Cheers.
And, i didn't say that you said his jersey is fake too, in case you still haven't find out.

yea, if got money, then shud buy ori. But if tight budget, dun force urself to eat sand daily tongue.gif

Its much more worthy to buy ori kits la, as a collection i mean. I admit i still have the fakes i bought when i was 15 or so, wear it to kitchen to cook, when sleep, when in my room (means as pyjamas la tongue.gif) but i think its weird if u buy a lot of fakes and call it a "collection".

since i start coming here, my budget quite ok.. in addition i have a part time job.. so i think i could afford now.. plus the original kit price is not very expensive after i converted it into NZD:) around NZD89-120.. juz need to work as a cleaner for 10 hours and can afford to buy an original jersey already:)

nns and patches can be easily found in ebay and a few other online stores. i'm sure u can learn more about that from the jersey forum smile.gif

yea, if u compare price of jerseys to the one sold in NZ/Aussie, way cheaper, almost by 50%! For example, normal jersey in Malaysia is Rm259, while a jersey in Aussie is AUD129 per piece, which translates to RM390!

and if i'm working in Aussie, i think i will buy non-stop tongue.gif

nice to see another Chelsea collector too, and glad that you are beginning to get original kits already. word of advise is try to get the kits first, and build up your collection from there. until your budget permits, can go and add NNs and patches. otherwise, getting ori kits of your favourite club is satisfying enough.

and just a little inspiration for you....

re Kenvess, they are ALL originals smile.gif AW13 is a collector of 15 years, and that one shown above is only his chelsea kits tongue.gif He is known as the Kappa King among collectors here, so you know what else he has la haha..

and wintzen you are right AW13 used to buy duplicate of jerseys (ie 2 for each kit) - 1 to keep and 1 to wear so it seems? haha

@kenvess - all originals mate, I pride myself in only getting original kits for my collection.

@wintzen - yup 2 of each, 1 for UCL and 1 for EPL/BPL. hope can 'slow' down beginning this season though...

@pyroboy1911 - yea to inspire newbies and potential collectors out there to collect ORIGINALS, and don't be dismayed by the fact that you are just a beginner. sooner or later, your collection will blossom if you stick to your task, much like what I have now. like what bro chcher commented, 15 years or now your collection will be somewhat like mine now....

@wintzen - yes it is unique just that PU NNs are too tedious! very hard to take care of etc.

Spend on Ori Jersey if you claim urself r die hard fans of your favourite club. I only collect Arsenal jersey so far and i will pay more if i found a past season jersey which is rare in the market.

All of my jerseys are non-EPL club..
