TO be honest, the gemini II works really great. But somehow it have a contrast,i cant installed for rams at one time due to the heatpipe blocked the ram slot.

QUOTE(Noodles @ Dec 13 2007, 07:08 PM) Regret buying which cooler? QUOTE(clawhammer @ Dec 13 2007, 07:09 PM) I have to agree the GeminII works great but inside the 690, it's probably choking when it comes to the air flow Yup,the performance totally great in some specs.Earlier with my cheap casing w/ side panel opened, I get 24-25C idle but in the new 690 case, I get 30C. Impressively sucks. I think 690 will perfectly match the gemini II. I think its due to the opened side panel that makes your temperature 24-25C. It means more cool air from outside will get into the case. That also happen to me when i use gemini II with no casing. My temperature is around 31c idle. But after using a casing,my temperature jump to 42C idle. |

QUOTE(clawhammer @ Dec 14 2007, 04:48 AM) Ok, I re-organized the fans a bit and had those low cfm, low performance Cooler Master fans on top and rear exhaust. It isn't so noisy anymore and temps are a bit better but still worse than my cheap case with side panel open. Yup,i heard in a review said that CM690 have a good ventilations.I thought CM 690 should give better temp since it has good airflow? But,IMO,you can also try to lap your gemini II and it might decrease 2-3C more. |

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Dec 14 2007, 09:24 PM) are u comparing the temps in the 690 with an open or closed side panel? Yup,thats rite bro.Opened is better compare to closed.if ur comparing closed vs open.... then of course open is better. But in this case,he's trying to get different between opened CM690 and Opened Chapalang case. As what i know,he said opened CM690 case runs hotter than opened chapalang case. It may be because of the different type of ventilation, material of the ambient temperature inside the case. |

QUOTE(clayclws @ Dec 15 2007, 03:23 PM) Open chassis has better ventilation. That's all. I have no idea why you got GeminiII when you could get something better, but heck, "nasi sudah jadi bubur". So, unless you want to leave your CM chasis open, then be ready for a higher temperature. Not anymore,im not using gemini II anymore as the size is enormous. The thing about GeminiII is that it's airflow is not direct. It blows unto the motherboard. The air is not directed out of the chassis. Conceptually, it cools other components on your motherboard, but Anandtech has proven that the difference is neglible. It does not do its primary job well especially with the configuration of chassis, and its secondary job is just a marketting gimmick. Now just use lapped xigmatek S963,in terms of performance, its better 11C. |

QUOTE(clawhammer @ Dec 16 2007, 12:25 AM) Are you saying the Xigmatek gives 11C improvement? Yup,when i used gemini II the load temp is around 61-62C.Its hot.Well, this is really interesting as I never had 11C improvements changing from one to another 3rd party cooler Maybe Xigmatek is really that superb or you had a bad mount on your GeminII earlier. But when i used lapped Xigmatek, the load temp around 50-51C. All with the same 1.52V Vcore. Not using a case for both comparison. I dont think lapped gemini II will get 50C load with 1.52Vcore. The different between them is the HDT Heatpipe Direct Touch. |

QUOTE(sukhoi37 @ Dec 16 2007, 12:09 PM) Yuo,its lapped.I do it carefully as i want it to be level. Those heatpipes is in really a problems. The most important is passion while lapping. QUOTE(LyraSummersile @ Dec 16 2007, 01:31 PM) Its easy and simple. Some grit papers.400,600,800,100.1200,1400. Plus some soap. Also add some passion. QUOTE(moderno @ Dec 16 2007, 01:48 PM) Thats not gonna happen bro.But will happen if use grinder. QUOTE(overclockalbert @ Dec 20 2007, 06:36 AM) Thanx bro. |

QUOTE(Hyde`fK @ Jan 20 2008, 10:37 PM) I change back to TT BT VX, surprisingly, after cleaned and polished, it's better than Gemini II. Idle for BT VX is 4c higher, but during full load, it's 6c cooler compared to Gemini II. Getting Xigmatek S1283 to see how it performs. Haha.Glad to hear that many poeple go to Xigmatek.Well,IMO,Xigmatek performs more better than those two HSF u have in hand.Lapping it will be more better. Mine S963 lapped load temp is around 41C load orthos. Idle around 25C. |
