It doesnt matter to quote the pictures, imo it doesnt really take bandwidth as its already loaded up from the same source as in previously posted images (in terms on the same page).

As long during quote images, do it as spoiler so that it wont waste so much space here esp. those multiple images.

Cheers and Merry Christmas smile.gif

Certain browsers (okay, only Opera, but all should make it like this) DON'T load pictures behind spoiler tag. It will only load it after you click the tag. This is a safety feature to block unfriendly Javascript from harming the PC without you knowing it... So if you have a big pic, please spoiler tag it. It might not be much, but ur helping the Opera users. Not to mention making the forum more streamlined

Game comparison
NOTE: If images are missing Photobucket image storage site is down![/B]

I set each game to 100% AI, maximum race length. What happens at the first corner? This test checks out both the AI and the camera position of the games in TV camera/replay mode. Let's start with reality...

In real life, 2002 was a messy start.
user posted image

In real life, 2003 was clean.
user posted image

Formula 1 97 has a clean start but not very good camera. It's also a bit dark (using Zeckensack's Glide Wrapper for 3Dfx version, anti-aliasing/ansiotropic filtering caused graphical breakup so they are disabled).
user posted image

Formula 1 99 had a wrong camera so this shot is taken after 1 lap, hence the spacing of the cars. Clean start but dull to look at.
user posted image

Prost Grand Prix also has cameras that aren't in the right place. The DOS low-res graphics aren't very appealing! Note the shower of sparks - this game has a LOT of that! Clean start too, although this is after 1 lap.
user posted image

Williams F1 Team Driver is awful. Apart from hideously unrealistic track there's no TV camera view, so this shot comes from on-board, looking to the side! Note the damaged car, as even on high AI, most of the computer cars crash during the first lap! This is after 1 lap.
user posted image

Virtual Grand Prix 2 has a clean start but doesn't exactly look like a 2003 F1 game!
user posted image

Official F1 Racing also has a clean start. Very bland look though!
user posted image

F1 World Grand Prix looks tasty (unusual diagonal lens flare!) but also has a clean start.
user posted image

WARM UP! has even better graphics and closer action along with a clean start.

F1 World Grand Prix 2000 also has no good TV camera view so this is after one lap. Cars are fairly equally spaced. Clean start. Note break-up on road caused by anti-aliasing/ansiotropic filtering. Not fun.
user posted image

Clean start in Grand Prix 3 although it shows that the game has a rather poor graphics engine. Note the sign on the ground sitting over the top of the fence and the barrier showing through the grandstand!
user posted image

Another clean start in Grand Prix 3 2000 Season. There was actually a 2-car collision on the first race I tried in this game, but I forgot to disable anti-aliasing/ansiotropic filtering so there was too much break-up to include that shot.
user posted image

Grand Prix 4 looks smooth (not enough detail texturing on the track though) and also made a clean start.
user posted image

F1 Racing Simulation wouldn't show any anti-aliasing/ansiotropic filtering so it looks quite blocky. Yet another clean start though.
user posted image

Monaco Grand Prix Racing Simulation 2 doesn't have a good first corner camera, so this is from an on-board camera shot! Yet another clean get-away!
user posted image

I was expecting carnage with F1 Racing Championship's often wayward AI, however it gave a clean start too!
user posted image

Racing Simulation 3 delivered a first corner collision! Two cars clipped and one spun onto the grass.
user posted image

F1 2000 also had a first corner collision with Zonta spinning off into the gravel. Camera is an on-board as TV camera points the wrong way.
user posted image

F1 Championship Season 2000 had a clean get-away but half the field cuts the first corner! Camera is an on-board as TV camera points the wrong way.

F1 2001 looks great! Clean start too.
user posted image

F1 2002 zooms in a lot more but the lighting seems too white compared to F1 2001. Clean start again!
user posted image

F1 Challenge '99 - '02 had a 3 car pile-up on the start line hence the two damaged cars in the first corner. Camera is an on-board as TV camera points the wrong way.

A quick comparison for Malaysia
Real-life, note time-of-day is different to some sims so there is no shadow from the grandstand:
user posted image

Formula 1 99 doesn't have a rear-view on-board camera. Hills and grandstands aren't correct and colours are too drab:
user posted image

F1 World Grand Prix has an overly bright and hand-drawn look. Pretty unrealistic:
user posted image

WARM UP! improves the colours and the background grandstand but still not that realistic:
user posted image

F1 World Grand Prix 2000 using Sauber as haven't unlocked Benetton yet! Not so good:
user posted image

Grand Prix 3 2000 Season, using rear view as on-board the rear wing obscures the scenery! Some anti-aliasing errors but otherwise not too bad:
user posted image

Grand Prix 4 scenery is too big! Or the focal length of the camera is very wrong! Nice graphics, the track is the right shade but looks rather drab in detail:
user posted image

F1 Racing Championship looks very nice, but the background grandstand is incorrect and track is too grey:
user posted image

Racing Simulation 3 colours are a lot more realistic but the grandstand lost it's roof to keep the game legal as an unofficial F1 racing game:
user posted image

F1 2000 looks rather poor and too dark:

F1 Championship Season 2000 using rear view as on-board the rear wing obscures the scenery! Looks no better than F1 2000:
user posted image

F1 2001 is quite good, though shades of colour are somewhat off:
user posted image

F1 2002 looks a lot more realistic and the haze/fogging makes it look more humid too:
user posted image

F1 Challenge 99-02 brings back the somewhat incorrect background from F1 2001 but overall looks better:

@Vorador: I got 50++ on 8600GT using low settings with Vista. 25++ on medium with 1024*768
So here's a comparison of the introduction sequences for every PC F1 game! The intro sequence is the very first thing the user will see when starting the game, so should ideally draw the user into the game by immersing them in action! So, how does each game do?

Note: I didn't include any copyright or game publisher logos (if the intro sequences started with one) as I preferred to focus on the action part!

Pole Position simply has the game start screen, no intro sequence as such.
user posted image

Pole Position II is similar to the original Pole Position, however it has more colours!
user posted image

Ferrari Formula One also begins with a static screen, as shown!
user posted image

Grand Prix Circuit also has an opening image but no animation. A McLaren on a chessboard!
user posted image

Nigel Mansell's World Championship has a badly animated globe under the game title. The blocky text below the globe is hard to read and is an indication of the general low quality of the game!
user posted image

F1 also has a title screen, though this one has the credits scrolling below it. The text of the credits appears messed-up in this shot as it wouldn't screen capture properly.
user posted image

Mario Andretti's Racing Challenge has a picture screen as its introduction, though it looks rather hand-drawn!
user posted image

Grand Prix Unlimited has a simple graphic of Ayrton Senna's McLaren with an animating backdrop and his head bobbing in the car. It's pleasingly constructed but short-lived.
user posted image

Power F1 has no introduction, rather 4 stills (3 are credits screens).
user posted image

Johnny Herbert's Grand Prix Championship 1998 also has a simple still graphic before getting to the title screen.
