Hi guys.. I need a suggestion here.
I am an Honor 4X user, looking for a new phone for:

- Chatting
- Navigator
- Web browsing
- Music Player
- Camera (occasional Video capturing)

1. Brand - Any
2. Budget - RM1,600 - RM2,000
3. Specs - More RAM, Good camera and reliable battery life
4. Type/Size - Not as big as my Honor 4X

Much appreciated guys!

1. Brand: Any good brand

2. Budget: MYR 2,000

3. Specs: 4GB Ram at least, good camera with stabilizer (going to use for video recording a lot) - gonna put on gorillapod stand, good screen and no lags when needed the most.

4. Type/Size: at most 5.5".

Is there any recommendation for mainly video capturing? This will not be my main video recording however, just want to make it as a point&shoot kind of camera.

I am considering Op3 but some reviewers said in YT this phone is not that good in video capturing.

Thanks guys!

OnePlus 3 is fine in video capturing for the price.

If you take a look at similar priced phones, there's ZTE Axon 7, Huawei P9, Microsoft Lumia 950, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+.

ZTE Axon 7 - Camera is mediocre
Huawei P9 - Camera is good but video recording is mediocre and it lacks OIS
Microsoft Lumia 950 - Camera is good but only if you're okay with Windows Phone
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ - Camera is good but it's 5.7"

So, I think OnePlus 3 suits all of your requirements.

Hey there, thanks for your recommendations.

I was considering Huawei P9, but I don't take pictures that much sweat.gif kinda a waste for me..
ZTE Axon 7 looks nice but the camera is not that great for video capturing..

Op3 however it is hard to get in hand now since everywhere is out of stock. I'd love to test it by hand before purchasing it. This thing is rare! tongue.gif

If I add a few hundred bucks more, will there be more options?

I am looking at Nexus 6P, with discount from directd, but I heard the camera is hard to utilise. I am more to open-and-use kind of guy xD

LG G5 looks fantastic though, the camera. I watched a video by SuperSafTV, the video capture is good but lacks stabilization.

So hard to decide which one to go sweat.gif

edit: Oops, I forgot to put this xD I am more to stock OS rather than root, I like to keep it simple..

Have no fear, DirectD is here!

If you can add more, go for LG G5 and it does have optical stabilization.

Does G5 perform better than Op3 though?

The more I research about Op3, I feel like I want to lean to other phones now haha

Both using the same chipset, so performance shouldn't be that much of a difference.

But keep in mind that OnePlus 3 has 6GB RAM and the UI is very close to stock Android, it should perform slightly better than LG G5. Also, OnePlus 3 is better than LG G5 in terms of battery life.

If camera really matters to you, just go for LG G5. It's packing more than enough specs for the run of few years.

I see, I shall try both first before buying then. Because their prices are almost the same thumbsup.gif

Thanks for your help biggrin.gif

Hi guys, it's me again.

I am looking for some insights here..

I am planning to get a smartphone in purpose of doing vlogs, or I shall say, "story telling" purpose.

With budget of RM 3,000, which phone should I get?

Now I am considering

1. LG V20 (have to buy online)
2. iPhone 6s (no expandable storage though..)
3. Samsung S7 Edge
4. Google Pixel 32GB (Have to wait a month or so)

I am now leaning towards V20, but some said the video capturing on it is not stabilized, even with OIS on..also fearing of no local warranty. But I like the dual camera with wide angle.

S7 Edge is a really a mixed bag for me..At first I was about to grab it, but the more review I watch and I compare with, the lesser my interest to get it..

Huawei Mate 9, starts selling from 22 November. brows.gif

If you don't mind about Windows Mobile, I would also recommend the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL.
*
Not sure about Huawei though, I am using Honor 4X currently, probably will jump ship tongue.gif

I am more comfortable with Android ever since the old Xperia X10.

Maybe my selections are down to these two now,

1. Google Pixel
2. LG V20

I like stock android, simple and easy to navigate..

I am really torn to make a decision here sweat.gif

Go with the Google Pixel- it's the stock one.

Then go with the Google Pixel, it's camera is the best as of currently.

As for the LG V20, it doesn't seem impressive though judging from the reviews.

I see, thank you for your recommendations.

Yeah V20 is not having a good time for now..after the bootloop issues from V10 and G5, with no local warranty..
The only thing that made me like V20 so much is the secondary display. Also the dual camera tongue.gif

I do a bit of video/vlogging etc. You may have decided on a smartphone, and that's fine.

For me, with a RM 3k budget, I'd get a decent real camera not a smartphone. Any point & shoot at RM 1k will have OIS these days. Way better quality  brows.gif

Mhm, thanks for your insight. That's what I have been thinking too. But I need to replace my current dying smartphone.. with many battle scars on it, I think it's time to put it off tongue.gif .

I am still new to vlogging probably I will start with something easy first.

Anyway thanks again ya icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm also upgrading my phone, and in need of a smaller camera to carry around. Don't want to spend too much as they are "use and throw" items these days.

Pro for smartphone - its convenient, since you have it with you all the time.
With a camera, more stuff to carry. Get attention which may not be good at times.

IMO, a phone can last at best, 3 years +/-. A camera probably 5 to 6 yrs if you are careful, i.e. don't drop it. So for me, I'll spend less on a phone and allocate some money for camera. That's me.

Btw, at a recent alumni dinner, my friends laugh at me for having a real camera, ai seh  doh.gif  Different strokes for different folks.

Good luck on your vlogging. More M'sian should do it.  thumbsup.gif

Peace out man.

I see, there's nothing wrong with a real camera tongue.gif It's just not that common in MY these days I guess.

I have a few plans to do next year about vlogging, then I will grab myself a decent Point & Shoot camera like G7x or RX100.

Best wishes to you too. biggrin.gif

For older person, which of these better?

Will stick to samsung because my dad used to it..

Samsung S8 / S8+

Note 8

Note FE

Mainly for daily applications like Whatsapp, youtube and phone calls.

My dad always complain about fatfingered (typo) during chatting, so not sure which one to go..(since all samsung anyway)
