Really like your recommendation!
Xiaomi Mi5 - RM1800, 16MP, 3000mAh. Ok I guess. Found one shop around my place with the PRO version.
OnePlus 3 is out of stock, but the RAM is just irresistible.
Seems like Brightstar is the only distributor. I will call em tomorrow to see if they are still available.
The price is around RM2000 which is a good deal.

Since you're coming from a phone with dual stereo speakers, I would recommend...

ZTE Axon 7
Sony Xperia XZ (starts selling on 7 Oct)
HTC 10

Or just go with what lylee73 recommended if you want cheaper.

ZTE Axon 7 - RM 2000. But the availability of Dolby speaker and WQHD screen is tempting!
Sony Xperia XZ - Thanks for the release date. I was actually planning to buy this one if there are no other good choices.
But seems like there are other flagship killer phones. Really liked this once because it's waterproof, has good sound feature (aptX) and 4K video.
HTC 10 - About the same price as Xperia XZ (around RM2700).
Nothing much "new" compared to my phone except OIS and screen.
Really hate HTC SW team ever since they've removed OTG, Blinkfeed, HTC backup & video cam feature.
Samsung Galaxy S7 is out. Not gonna go through the hassle buying this phone due to bad review of the battery.

I'll check YT review and then decide which one is the best IMO.
Also would like your opinions on ZTE and Xiaomi aftersales service (especially in JB).

Thanks. Already decided and bought a new device, which is ZTE Axon 7 (bought from @flying-eagle)
The front firing speakers are awesome, and I can watch 1080p video smoothly compared to my HTC M8.

The only problem was there was no radio, but I guess I don't use it that much.
I also though this one has infrared blaster, but it doesn't have. I guess it's ok.

But with the screen & Dolby Atmos, seriously this phone is awesome.

Thank you pak cik droidTrump for your recommendation.

Hi, need recommendations

1. Brand. any
2. Budget. <RM2000
3. Specs. rock solid performance good camera, good speaker, dual-sim
4. Type/Size. anything between 5.1" to 5.5"

already narrowed down to two phones , OnePlus 3 and ZTE Axon 7. zte got very good display and crazy front facing speaker with high quality DAC, OP3 got very good ram management, stock android, beautiful design IMO, better dev community.
I will be using the phone as daily driver, listening to music, watch movies, youtube and anime, navigating, take photos, light gaming. Any other phone recommendations are welcome. Thanks in advance

I've used ZTE Axon 7 for 2 weeks, here's the pro & cons:-
Pro:
- Nice display (QHD), nice to watch movie
- Loud surround front fire speaker, good with listening to music & anime
- Good DAC (used my friends Audio Technica M50, really awesome experience)
- Chooses strong/fast signal (64.5% 4G, 34.5% 3G, 0.1% 2G, 0.9% no signal), good for navigating
- Fast charging, 40-50% for 30 minutes
- External memory (the deal breaker for me over Oneplus 3). However, it will take up space on SIM slot 2.
- Very few bloatware. There's only 7 apps, all included as "Toolkit" app
- 2 year warranty

Cons:
- Slight drain on battery, 40% drain in half day (because I play games on break time)
- Camera is subpar, not the best but not the worst either (OIS not that good, but it capture pic fast)
- MiFavor UI can be boring if you used to other flagship UI
- No backlight on capacitive home/back button (not an issue for me)
- Notification not displaying on lock screen unless you tap on the bell icon
- No built-in radio or infrared blaster
- Youtube/camera(record video) app keep failing. Have to restart phone each time

thanks bro , for the DAC chipset , i would like to know if it gonna work with every headphone/earphone or only works with high end headphone ? one more, is 4gb ram enough for you to multitask and run few applications ?

TLDR: DAC will only work with high end headphones (not sure about mid-range). Low end earphones < front firing speaker.

TLDR2: 4GB is enough. No lag at all. Rendering game graphics/map may take some time but no lag while playing.

Hi guys. I need phone recommendation for my dad as a present.
He's currently using an iPhone 5 which has a protruded screen, which will not last long.

1. Brand. Any
2. Budget. RM1000 & below
3. Specs. Fast surfing through FB, Youtube, WhatsApp. Good signal quality. Good sound quality (not necessary), Long lasting battery
4. Type/Size. Less than or equal to 5.5 inch

I'm only thinking of Redmi 4X, but I'm open to other suggestions.
