hi everyone..
i'm planning on getting a smartphone for my dad, budget is about rm500.. as an old man, the things he used most would be whatsapps, youtubes, facebooks and taking photos with the camera.. no need for gaming.. most important it would be lag-free.. and hopefully can last more than 2 years.. his current iphone4 is too laggy.. any recommendations? thank you~ |

QUOTE(kuai_chai @ May 4 2016, 10:31 PM) hi everyone.. For low end phones, lag-free would be almost impossible, but there are definitely ones that can keep lag to minimal.i'm planning on getting a smartphone for my dad, budget is about rm500.. as an old man, the things he used most would be whatsapps, youtubes, facebooks and taking photos with the camera.. no need for gaming.. most important it would be lag-free.. and hopefully can last more than 2 years.. his current iphone4 is too laggy.. any recommendations? thank you~ If you can fork out another RM 49, I would highly recommend you to get the Alcatel Flash 2 - (RM 549). Decent camera and speaker, close to stock Android. |

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ May 4 2016, 08:53 PM) Im not a really pro guy on phone but i take it that Mate 8 screen have only about 368 dpi. Will it overall like reduce the liveliness and vividness of vids or movie? I think Honor 7 is above 400 dpi~A friend of mine kept telling me to go for s7 Edge. swear to god he's not the "local" ambassador of Samsung, but does Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge lives up to its hype, or even its price tag? Definitely not going to get it but just wanna know the 5 cents of it though..... |

Specs. - good CPU and GPU chipset, better above 400dpi because i like to watch clips and movies on my phone. personally not a heavy game but would like to be able to play games like TempleRun, fighting games and strategy games. Good connectivity withterthering and Hotspot as Well 4. Type/Size. - 5'' to 6'' screen Hi guys. I kept seeing that many of you guys recommended Huawei Honor 5x. To be honest, i'm planning to get Honor 7 Enhanced or maybe LG G4 but may i know the diff between cpu and gpu of both phones? Honor 7 is Kirin 935 and 5x is Snapdragon 616 while G4 has Snapdragon 808. Which one is better? What about Mate 8? does it worth forking out another RM600 to get it? Of course You guys can also recommend me some other phones based on my preferences. Thanks guys ! Samsung j7 Asus selfie Leagoo elite series Meizu series Huawei p8 lite Huawei mate 8 |

Will it overall like reduce the liveliness and vividness of vids or movie? I think Honor 7 is above 400 dpi~ There's not much of a difference, really. Due to Mate 8 having bigger screen than Honor 7, of course the ppi amount will be lesser on the Mate 8, but the difference is not significant. Both are using the same IPS-Neo display as well. All in all, Mate 8's screen quality is fine. You should go get your hands on the Mate 8 in the Huawei store to see whether you're satisfied with the screen quality. A friend of mine kept telling me to go for s7 Edge. swear to god he's not the "local" ambassador of Samsung, but does Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge lives up to its hype, or even its price tag? Definitely not going to get it but just wanna know the 5 cents of it though..... S7 Edge is a good phone, no doubt. The big impact on the price is due to the curved screen. If curved screen isn't important to you and you're all in for big amount of ppi, go have a look at the regular S7 (not Edge) for RM 2699 as well, it has a whooping Quad HD screen with 577 ppi. QUOTE(kuai_chai @ May 5 2016, 02:12 PM) Thanks. Shouldn't be too bad. I would prefer going with the A7000 Plus, as it do offer a good screen resolution (1080p) and big screen at 5.5 inches, which is more to a necessity for old people. Also, A7000 Plus is the same with K3 Note. How about Lenovo K3 Note and Lenovo A7000 Plus? 1. Brand: Any.
2. Budget: RM800-RM1400 3. Specs: Good camera, support for 4G connectivity, good battery. Minimum 16Gb ROM and 2Gb RAM. Preferably Snapdragon 6XX and above. Preferably AMOLED display (not deal breaker) 4. Type/Size: 5" and above Currently considering between A. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 B. Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) C. Samsung Galaxy J7 D. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 In that order of preference. Open to suggestions. I think RN3 has the best specs for the price range, but I've never used Xiaomi phones before and it seems like MIUI takes some getting used to, plus friends said Mi phones becomes faulty (read: not just lag) after a few months usage. Rumours or fact? |

Rumours or fact? http://www.mi.com/my/note3/ MIUI indeed needs to take some time getting used to. However, you can just install a launcher over it. One more known issue about MIUI is that it's not optimized well, so you might see some minor bugs but it can be fixed with software updates. If you need something that feels right at home, go with Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) or the Note 4 (if you can find an original new set below your maximum budget).
