Thanks for the info but I really need hp with SD card slot.

Both of these phones do have SD card slot.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro comes with a dedicated SD card slot, means u can still insert 2 sims and also a SD card on a separate slot.

Lenovo P2 comes with hybrid slot, means u can either insert 2 sims or 1 sim + SD card.

Forgot to add. Can support Webe 850Mhz(Band 5)

Btw how's the Xiaomi lineup ? The Mi5s looks promising
*
Three of those phones do support 850Mhz (Band 5).

As for Xiaomi Mi5s, it's definitely a better phone than those three that I mentioned earlier, but Xiaomi Malaysia isn't selling it here currently so you would have to deal with imported set running on China ROM. However, there's the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 if you wanna save some money.

You can buy it from here.

By "not note size", you're referring to less than 5.7" right? Cuz that's the screen size of a Note 5.

Here are my recommendations...

Huawei Nova Plus
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
ZTE Axon 7 Mini

Current phone Oneplus X, currently thinking of upgradingg to phone with similar price range which is around rm1k.
Is Nexus 5X still a viable option now? Minimum requirements: 32gb, better than Opx camera, FHD display, Fingerprint. I'll not be playing games with the phone.

Yes, go for it.

Ya agree on the Oneplus 3T. And the price is only RM2k but imported set only.

Im still using iPhone 5 and no problem so far..and getting kind of..bored

S7 like everyone is using but its good I got no commend..maybe just don't want to let people says why you so dumb go mate 9 instead of S7

Mate 9 overall I like including the design and everything. But RM2699 compared with onePlus 3T, with RM2k already manage to get the top end phone for now...hard decision.  rclxub.gif

Those people who bash you for choosing what you like are the dumbest.

We have the rights to make our own choices you know. First of all, it's not their money. Secondly, why would I force myself to get a S7 if I don't like it?

Don't get me wrong, S7 is a good phone. But I hate when people having that mentality and they spit the bullshit on me just because I didn't choose what they think is the best.

Looking for a recommendation -- an uncle friend needs to give up flip phone for more capable smartphone.
What brand/model good for a happy transition gift, less learning curve but not crippled tech, smallish pocketable?

What about micro usb type c cable? Can use on older phone. I know vice versa cannot.
*
Cannot, the port on older phones have different shape which is called USB type B, the common one that you can find on many devices.

Whereas type C is being used in newer phones nowadays.

Again, to differentiate the commonly used type B and type C is by looking at the shape of the port.
