i think besides battery (s7 3000mAh battery and S7 edge 3600mAh battery) other specs is all the same

haven't buy already worried about scratches for the S7 Edge...forum still actively discussing sp..

S7 Edge's screen is very fragile, once you drop it it will most likely be cracked and the replacement fee is insanely expensive.

S7 would be the better choice especially when you're gonna let your kids to use it. But either way, remember to get a screen protector and case as well.

1. Brand: Any
2. Budget: < RM1000
3. Specs: good battery life, smooth UI
4. Type/Size: Maybe no bigger than 5.5"?

Was thinking about Lenovo zuk z2 at rm1100. But only got import unit. I'm not sure what disadvantage there are to buy an import unit. Also mi5 import unit is also selling at around the same price. Any suggestions? Thanks sifu

I would recommend...

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (32GB)
Lenovo Vibe K4 Note
Alcatel Flash Plus 2 (32GB)

The disadvantage with imported China branded phones like Lenovo Zuk Z2 and Xiaomi Mi 5 are they will come with China ROM out of the box, means full of Chinese apps, probably software incompatibility and no Google services which you'll have to install it yourself. You still can buy it if you don't mind the hassle though, but it's recommended to just get the official Malaysian set instead.

Currently using a Samsung Note 4, would like to know if there is a super obvious upgrade available

1. Any
2. Flexible, more important is 3 and 4 below.
3. Camera (low light/night shots especially) and battery life that are both an obvious improvement vs a Note 4, i.e. upgrade not sidegrade. A good fingerprint scanner (the Note 4 one is total rubbish). Something that will get OS updates for at least 2 to 3 years.
4. Anything between 5.5 and 5.7 inches.

Zenfone 3 Max only has 5.2" screen.

You can consider it if you don't mind the smaller screen.

1. Brand. any
2. Budget. <RM2000
3. Specs. rock solid performance good camera, good speaker, dual-sim
4. Type/Size. anything between 5.1" to 5.5"

already narrowed down to two phones , OnePlus 3 and ZTE Axon 7. zte got very good display and crazy front facing speaker with high quality DAC, OP3 got very good ram management, stock android, beautiful design IMO, better dev community.
I will be using the phone as daily driver, listening to music, watch movies, youtube and anime, navigating, take photos, light gaming. Any other phone recommendations are welcome. Thanks in advance

I've used ZTE Axon 7 for 2 weeks, here's the pro & cons:-
Pro:
- Nice display (QHD), nice to watch movie
- Loud surround front fire speaker, good with listening to music & anime
- Good DAC (used my friends Audio Technica M50, really awesome experience)
- Chooses strong/fast signal (64.5% 4G, 34.5% 3G, 0.1% 2G, 0.9% no signal), good for navigating
- Fast charging, 40-50% for 30 minutes
- External memory (the deal breaker for me over Oneplus 3). However, it will take up space on SIM slot 2.
- Very few bloatware. There's only 7 apps, all included as "Toolkit" app
- 2 year warranty

Cons:
- Slight drain on battery, 40% drain in half day (because I play games on break time)
- Camera is subpar, not the best but not the worst either (OIS not that good, but it capture pic fast)
- MiFavor UI can be boring if you used to other flagship UI
- No backlight on capacitive home/back button (not an issue for me)
- Notification not displaying on lock screen unless you tap on the bell icon
- No built-in radio or infrared blaster
- Youtube/camera(record video) app keep failing. Have to restart phone each time
*
ZTE Axon 7 is no doubt the beast in entertainment. But like P0lyStati0n said, the camera is subpar.

If you want better camera and more polished UI, then go for OnePlus 3.

Is honor 8 and oneplus 3 really that good? Im not familiar with their brand. Btw I had already been checking mi5 out but ive seen a video showing that mi5 is very easy to bend. I was actually interested in mi5 until i saw that video.
*
Honor 8 and OnePlus 3 are indeed one of the few best flagships in that price range. For the brand, Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei, and OnePlus is known for their "Flagship killers" and many Android fans love it.

As for the Mi 5, you're not gonna bend it on purpose right lol? So, I think it should be fine.

Hi, need recommendation
1. Brand. any but xiaomi
2. Budget. <RM1800
3. Specs. rock solid performance good camera for point and shoot for elderly, whatsapp we chat Facebook, last 2 years
4. Type/Size. anything between 5.1" to 5.5"

I saw a few phone, in my budget range but can't decide.  confused.gif

1. Galaxy note 5 (rm1699, recon with 3 month warranty from brightstar)
2. Huawei p9 (RM1725)
3. Oneplus 3 (RM1900) off budget , can't get stock for local warranty, price increase due to stock availability
4. Nexus 6p (RM1625)
5. Honor 8 (RM1625)

Or any other phone worth to recommend? Mi5 is good as well but don't like mi phone
*
I think Note 5 should be excluded, since it's a recon unit, it's questionable if it can last for 2 years. Also, Nexus 6P is 5.7" so should be excluded as well.

You would be left with Huawei P9, OnePlus 3 and Honor 8. In terms of performance, OnePlus 3 would be the best of the bunch, the other two are good enough but still loses to OnePlus 3 performance wise. Hence, the software on the OnePlus 3 is more simple and reliable, and OnePlus is good at updating their phones so lasting for 2 years shouldn't be an issue.

In terms of camera, do note that Huawei P9 and Honor 8 are very similar to each other, so I would say they're both better than the OnePlus 3.

So, you should choose which one is more important to you.

Which would you prefer, Honor 8 or Oneplus 3?
*
Personally, I would prefer OnePlus 3. The specs are just too good for the price, basically a no-compromise flagship. Hence, I like the simple design, although the Honor 8 does look good (I prefer it's sibling P9 more lol), the design on the OnePlus 3 grows on me more. And of course, OnePlus is good at updating their phones compared to Huawei/Honor.

But still, Honor 8 isn't a bad phone.

Hi, I am looking for smartphones with the specs below:

1. Brand - Any
2. Budget - Not exceeding RM 2000
3. Specs - powerful camera with OIS , front flash (this is a must), can support fhd or more,2 sim, dedicated SD card slot, best sound, notification led, finger scanner, big battery, fast charging,
4. Type/Size - Candy bar/5.5 inch screen

Just try my luck..
*
Sony Xperia XA Ultra (no OIS, fingerprint scanner, big battery and fast charging)
Oppo F1 Plus (no OIS, front flash, big battery, but there's fast charging)
Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro (no front flash, notification LED)
ZTE Axon 7 (no front flash)
Honor 8 (no OIS, front flash)
Huawei Nova Plus (no front flash)

You gotta sacrifice some of your required specs. And btw, I recommend you to test out these phones first before making your purchase, some of these phones might not have front flash but there's screen flash.
