@.@ after much debate with myself, finally decided to fish out my credit card and finalize my payment for WoW from TSB. RM219 for a starter pack with 60 day time card isn't so bad..

picking up my copy tmr after my last exam paper. Hope to see any LYN ppl in it


ps.. headache here, which server should i play in? i'm not so much of a pvp person.. is there any penalty for being killed by other players?

Oceanic Dath' Remar is a new PvE server.

besides, you can be frustrating becoz you have to download a 400mb++ patch, than after that you still canot play becoz of server maintainence , until about 5am only can ply

490MB isn't the only patch he will be downloading, I'm sure you need to download all the previous version patches first.

well. i'm downloading the game from online. enrolled myself in the 10 day free pass, so i'm getting the game first. the version i'm dling now is 1.12, which if i'm not mistaken, is one more patch away to play.

i wanna play melee, have always been a range char in most rpg, wanna try something new. Any advice? I'm more of a team player, if i have to play alone, i might die. lol. @.@

well usually WoW's team-oriented. You can't get all the uber items all by yourself, unless you can somehow managed to farm like 20 rare drops at 1 go but, it's just very very very difficult

for easy intro and startups, i'd recommend a druid or a paladin. Both are hybrids with healing abilities so it shouldn't be hard to play, although in druid's case, you have to be really patient with some of their "class quests" ie. Bear Form, Aqua Form (and possibly Cat Form and Travel Form prior to new patch).

check for 'new' servers (or low population) either through the server selection screen or worldofwarcraft.com realm tab. But be warned: market economy sux for new servers so it'd be hard for you to accumulate wealth "merchant style"

Nope, PVE cannot transfer to PVP, PVP however can transfer to PVE. But I feel you are missing a lot of things if you don't go to a PVP server.

Oh don't worry about getting pawned early, you will start in a friendly area. This means you cannot be attacked by others unless you attack them. I think you will only go into pvp areas roughly about level 25-30 range, by then you should be familiar with the basics. Not sure about Alliance racial skills since I play on the Horde side but warriors are generally the most gear dependant class. Warriors are known as 2 types in general. Fury and protection types, fury are for those who like damage and protection for tanking. People usually want tanker specs more though.

is it alliance only can fight with horde? Cannot alliance with alliance? Is there any war activity going on?

As my experience last monday, someone go to Taurent Village and pk all ppl there,,,,, LVL 60 vs LVL 10 >.< hate him.... (even me in INN also kena kill)

Alliance and Horde can attack each other's cities but cannot attack the players unless you attack them or you were still flagged from a duel or battleground.

Go PvE bro...it took me forever to level from level 20-50 on a PvP server unless you can play 24/7.

hmm Aman'thul looks like a pretty decent server.. observed that quite a number of lyners are there. mad_geist, horde side arr? hmm.. @.@ wanted to play alliance cos their char looks much nicer.

In a PvE server (like Aman'thul) you can have characters on both side of the fence.. create a Horde char for starters.. join us in guild.. get familiar with the game.. then go create a new Alliance character enjoy both side of the game.. no one stopping you

I want to see the Alliance side of the game too.. but later on.. after I max out my current characters

cool.. i'll take up your offer. need to know the game mechanics first.. but before i get in the game, i need to install it, and it's already giving me a heck lot of problems. I keep getting the error message while installation, it says can't verify sound.mpq and it says it's probably because of my drive error and stuff.. @.@ i did a full hard disk scan and nothing's wrong. tried both drives, and tried it with the downloaded installer and the cd.

Sounds like your installer files are corrupted.. u installing from CD or from Download Files? may be corrupted during the Download process..

if not maybe your CD drives or the CD itself is not good

i tried my dled files and also the new cds i just picked up just now in ikano. both telling me errors with file verification. I'm retrying now with the temp folder cleared out.

ya, i'm living in usj.. bukit saga to be exact.

finally managed to install the game. now dling the 490 meg patch file to version 2. @.@ taking darn long

how are u downloading the patch? If u got no luck with blizzard's downloader.. u might want to try direct download.. look at this thread.. It has some links to download the patch directly I think..

PvP servers are fine when you start as soon as a server is opened( meaning no level 60s) it's not so bad if you level that way since you dont get ganked too often. Anyway, PvP server allows you to have world pvp. ?Meaning more or less you could attack any opposing faction player at any time anywhere in the world. Thus gives you world pvp, more fun than anything else if you'd ask me.

Lol, i totally agreed with him.It looks like real life like we can attack horde which is our alliance enemy but this pve is so darn bored which you cant kill any enemy on road...looks dull anyway...sigh

heh..wait till u are 40-60 and trying to level in neutral zones..like STV...kena gank until u cry

also...imagine geting 40 ppl ready for a raid...reach the entrance..got 40 horde there....waste at least 30min fighting your way tru

Haha PvP servers are for me, leveling isn't really much of a problem if you got friends and know where to go. And PvP makes the grinding more interesting if you are the one ganking, last night while leveling my rogue in STV saw an alliance warlock grinding also, stealth up blind shot, smack smack, kidney shot = honor kill lol. Ganked a few more times between my raptor killing and the lock finally gives up and hearths =)

Then I guess he called reinforcement because of ganking attempts by a slightly higher level druid but good thing sprint and vanish cooldown ready lol.

Yes, and don't forget that we have latency problems especially if your char is click to attack..a ~500ms lag will surely gets wtfpwned by anyone <100ms.
