I'm thinking the Audiophile forum is a better bet for this type of question but I'll help out anyways. Plasma should offer u a better picture quality. It allows for greater contrast, a deeper range of blacks and faster refresh rates. But LCD technology is cathcing up fast while plasma technology I think has reached it's peak.

The question doesn't ask for CRT lerr. For sure CRT clearest but damn big box. Nowadays living spaces becoming cramper and cramper have to use thinnest and lightest that technology can afford.

For the time being plasma is better. Read intech Star newspaper today for comparison. All things being equal e.g. newest technology, amount of ambient light, resolution, contrast etc. plasma is better. But I'm thinking not for long.

Bcoz i heard Samsung LA40R71B is quite clear picture. but not the best it is called marketing tactics people might see "better quality picture" might think it is the best one where in fact it is just better that other of the same my thoughts now is that the lcd/plasma scene hasnt really mature yet more like a teenager my thinking of maturity is when one of the type monopolise the scene while the other one is set as a secondary stuffs |

Astro looks rubbish on all TVs. Really not much difference from one to the next. The Astro signal is so compressed, you'll get that blocky picture no matter what you use. Obviously it's more obvious on large HDTVs compared to your old CRTs.
So until Astro starts broadcasting in HD, it doesn't really make much of a difference, IMO. |

I am currently using a S-Video cable connecting Astro to my LCD. Slight difference, probably better than normal Video cable. But still you don't get the best

I would say for normal astro viewing, CRTV pwns all, but only because LCDs and Plasma's are available in widescreen format only.
