As a mechanic you should know that you can't repair the sidewalls or the shoulder of the tyre. Even for the thread area, there is a limited repairable area that can be done. If it's too close to the shoulder, then it still cannot be repaired.

yup,i know but wat if it's far away from shoulder n it's 16" brand new tire ard 70% left?? i've proven 2 my customer which had d same prob which use a special type of sealant jus 2 seal up d side wall front inside n not like those u've been seeing them repair it from outside...

That is a very dangerous practice. Sealants are only temp solutions. It doesn't matter how far it is from the shoulder, even if it is on the shoulder, repairs are not recommended for long term. You can't repair a tyre from the shoulder up to the rim. Life is worth more than one tyre.

I guess not everybody's got the "kanghu" that you have. smile.gif
What could happen if the repair fails? Another flat? Or blowout?

BTW, how much is a reasonable price for Michelin Energy 205/55/R16? (Since this topic IS on tyre prices... hehe)

heh, sorry..typo tongue.gif

well, if the hole on the sidewall is small then I think less worry guar. Coz its almost impossible to damage the same sidewall area twice. Depending on how small the damage is, the tyre should still be able to use after repair. But if that person drive without giving a damn about the potholes, then I think he should change it. It all depends on the person le smile.gif

p/s: I didn't damage my tyre sidewall...it was just near there. I saw the mechanic repairing the edge of the tyre. I tried to find the hole after that but all traces disappeared. So geng wan he repair sweat.gif
