I have no idea what questions will be asked specifically by EY as I was not from EY.
But I believe interview would be some behavioral/situational questions like how will you work in a team, ie with your seniors/managers, what will u do if xxx happens, this and that. How do you overcome challenges etc or even why do u wan to join audit

Alright thanks. Then what kind of technical questions will be asked?
*
Not sure if u'll be asked about the recent changes to IFRS such as IFRS 15,9,16... but these are the focus areas in audit in recent years. Of course it would be good if u can illustrate the impact of covid on audit & accounting and the risk areas in that regards. This might be a little bit technical for a fresh grad but definitely a key ones for experienced hires.

Otherwise, easier questions will be on cash, fixed assets expenses etc which are easier? Not too sure tbh what are they expecting from fresh grad. I'd say they'll look at behavioural questions more. I mean usually fresh grads are not expected to know how to audit and it's always on the job learning.

Mind if i ask, are u actually prepared for audit? Do u know the stress level that u're facing and the late night hours? Are u prepared for those? This is because i've seen a lot of Gen Z/millenials these days are getting worse in terms of work ethics and expecting more on work life balanxe whoch is unfortunately not quite achievable in audit. Something i'd not appreciate either.

Lets just say that - dont join audit for the sake of just getting a job. When people are saying that they work until 3am, that is not even exaggerating. It is just how the life in audit is. Make sure u're able to take it, and know what u're signing up for. This is no joke as i have seen alot of freshies coming in not knowing what they're getting themselves into, and having attitude problems.... a waste of everybody's time. The learning curve is very steep, and the long working hours - make sure u can handle this.

Yea, i’m very aware of the working hours also but would like to try out to see whether i’m fit for audit or not for these 6 months, which I think is quite a fair period (hope so) sad.gif For the 3am part, does it applies to peak period only or all the time?
*
It can be for peak, it can be for non peak. Depends on ur luck what kind of clients or engagements u are assigned to. It's not unusual if u hah to constantly work late or eztra hours. It's just industry problem that nobody has a solution for.....

EY Partner Low Kin Weng committed suicide on 15 march. RIP

During the funeral, other partners that attended were scolded by his parents for giving their son so much stress that he committed suicide

I've gotten a verbal offer from one of the Big4 but have yet to receive the offer letter. Is it confirmed or it is not finalized until I was given the offer letter? :/

Check ur offer letter/employment letter. Exxxx Yxxxx offer letter will exclude the clause abt EPF rate (it's not explocitly mentioned) and some other employment benefits clauses. It's very unethical and I dont actually think that's unfair for the employees/candidates. Heard from my friend that their counterparts in other countries have a more comprehensive and complete offer letters than Malaysia though. Have a read below - it's referred to That yellow firm in M'sia actually

Whoever got offer letter from this firm should read thoroughly and feedback to the HR to rectify this
