I see so you're saying that if you're doing 2nd attempt then you'll get less study leave?

Hmm I have heard of cases where local grads get to do icaew
*
if not mistaken :-

1st attempt =5 days study leave + 1 day exam leave
2nd attempt = 3 days study leave + 1 day exam leave
3rd attempt and so on = 1 day study leave + 1 day exam leave

Question - Much have been debated on which firm is better

Have you guys consider the bonus range that each firm offers as part of the consideration of which firm to join?

I was told PwC offer significantly higher bonus for top performers compared to average performers, if same amount of effort, might as well slave for PwC than other Big4 right? Although investment banking even higher in good times

And the thing that I find is a big turn off for EY is, the bonus is paid in 2 tranches, way after you completed the service...  ranting.gif

It's to retain employees ... Imagine you going to audit with newbies for big cases due to no other senior staffs during peak period

Hi, I am going to start my career with EY soon in this coming August and I'm planning to open a new bank account soon for my salary.

I would like to ask if EY (KL office) has their own preferred bank for salary purpose?
*
Yes .. if not mistaken should be Maybank

I'm not very sure but I heard Big 4 do have a age cut-off for new applicants from other smaller firms ... despite having professional qualifications?

Wow even well qualified still can fail to go in, I've heard of cases like this too, my friend 3.9 and got rejected.

I hope i don't fck up the interview, any tips?
I already know basic interview techniques, just need interview techniques specifically for big 4.
Also, in case if i failed, can i shamelessly try again in next round?
*
just don't try too hard during interview to impress ppl

there's still probation after you received the offer letter

Then should I wait for the reply from the application I sent to medium firm and reject the interview at MNC? I personally have strong passion in audit and the obstacles is that I don't own a car.
*
is money a problem to you?

May consider buy 2nd hand car ..

I still got 2 more interviews in august.

Thanks in advance..

Is it true that if you worked in BIG4, got better prospects than those working in other companies?

Cuz i just interned one of the BIG4 and I hate it.
*
not everyone can withstand it ..

for the same salary there are better jobs outside ..

you can join big 4 without ACCA ..

sometimes there are better candidates than you during their selection (doesn't automatically mean you're inferior to them)

there are still 3 out of 4 chances left for you if u dead set in joining big 4

*

I heard that EY's cut off point is March, which mean if you join in June 2018, you only will be promoted in March 2020. Is it true?

Dear all sifus and seniors, correct my if I'm wrong.
*
Promotion / Progression is in October

If you join in June 2018 (after March 2018).. u will only progress from A1 to A2 in October 2019.

In EY

AA1 to AA2 its RM300
AA2 to Senior its RM1000 and it continues until you reach manager

But if you're taking ICAEW the increments are lower, not sure the exact amount thou.
If you're a high performer, your increment would be even more
*
I'm sure that increment range is only applicable to KL office ...

in Penang, it was

AA1 -> AA2 = RM100
AA2 -> SA1 = RM800 (approx)

Means if join at the end of March18 also able to promote in October18 right?
*
appraisal is done annually ...

A1 to A2 is only progression
A2 to S1 is promotion ...

hence .. you don't really "promote" every year

Hi... May I know for the case of probation in any of the big 4, is it usually people will be turning into a permanent staff? And, at worst will it be extending the probation period or being fired, if the work performance is not that good?
*
will probably extend probation maybe 1 or 2 times

if still cant perform .. will ask you to resign (won't fire you) to leave a neutral history on your resume
