Hi all, I'm a fresh graduate and currently doing ACCA P level. I'm having a dilemma after i completed my internship in one of the big 4 audit department. I'm not sure wanna start my career in Audit or Tax. My aim is to get the CA licence after 3 years and hoping can get a job in SG Big 4 or mid tier firm. As i know if wanna join in SG Big 4 or Mid Tier Audit division with few years experience is not impossible. However, during my internship I found out that I'm not too interested in Audit and wanna try to join in Tax, Internal Audit or Advisory.

The purpose of open this post is like to seek some advice or opinion from Tax Experience Senior who are work in Big 4. I would like to know that is it able for us to apply and get to work in SG Tax division when we have few years experience the major concern of me is the Tax law is variant in Malaysia and SG. So I'm not sure that SG Big 4 is it will take us. Beside that, I would also like to know more about Transfer Pricing this area if anyone are in this area could you tell me more about it. I also like to know which area is the best to start as a Tax Associate(Indirect Tax, Business Tax/Corp Tax, TP, International Tax, Global Employer Services).

Secondly, I would also like to know more about Internal Auditor. Anyone can tell me more about this position so that I can get some picture about this work. Beside that, I also have an interested in Forensic Accounting/Fraud Investigation and during my Degree i have took forensic accounting so I knew the basic theory about Forensic Accounting but I would like to know more about the job scope in the real working environment.

Thank you to spend your time to read my post and hope you can drop me some advice or opinion.

I think i did quite well in interview and phone interview. is it maybe because of my results? fyi I have a second lower degree with completion of 3/6 cpa aus paper.

Which two you had apply? I had apply four of them only two had called to interview one had rejected me and another one still no news yet and the interview was two weeks ago. I think you can reapply anytime when they have reopen vacancy.

KPMG usually very fast, within a week you should get response. Did PPC tell you when should you get a response?

Pls follow up consistently. Which department is your manager from? Btw, all the best!

Hi guys

I have graduated a few months ago from a foreign university in Malaysia with first class but I didn't involve in any CCAs. However, I did my internship with one of the local banks in internal audit department.

After I graduated, I take up ICAEW on my own as a independent student and have passed 2 professional level papers; leaving last 5 papers. I kind of regretting over my decision to take ICAEW as it restricts me in my job searching.

I would like to work in big firms like B4. However, I have been hesitating to apply as I don't think I will pass the interview as in my case I don't really have any experience or examples which demonstrate my leadership, interpersonal, presentation, problem-solving skills and etc.

I have been thinking to get a job at a mid tier firm first, in order to gain some working experience in external  auditing, would help me to get into B4.

Hi,

Why don't you give yourselve a chance to apply Big 4 instead to have a so firm allegation that you can't do this. There is nothing impossible in this world. If you never try how you can know you can't succeed. From your words i can feel that is your personal to close the door to avoid it. The application is open to public. They will screening to pick the cancidate. You have the guts to take ICAEW but didn't have the guts to apply it. Lack of solf skill doesn't mean you can't can't success. The behaviour and the urge of learning is more important. If you can show the passionate and a good behaviour during the interview this can grab the interviewer eyes. If your aim is to B4 then direct apply and try it. If really not success then only go for mid-tier.

Remember don't say you can't if you haven't try it.

You really not need ACCA to join Big 4. Myself and my coursemate which from one of the public uni and not yet complete ACCA exam but we still manage to joined Big 4. You can try to apply another 3 too. Good luck in job hunting.

Most of my coursemate are not joined before the start take ACCA exam. While i'm just passed one paper when i'm joined my current firm. So it's really not a matter. Keep positive. Actually i have another friend apply Big 4 when she left 1 or two papers but they don't want her also.
