The phone and f2f interview for ey are so stressful and invasive.

It is not easy to finish all acca papers, as well as getting a 2nd upper in degree, i failed just once in acca and twice in degree.

Yet all their questions revolving around why I failed.
How am I supposed to know? The important thing is that I made it at the end despite the rocky path of my studying life.

It is like asking "why you're a boy?", I just answered vaguely saying I have personal problems that time, and they want me to disclose. They also want me to disclose what offers do I have currently, dig very deep.

At the end got rejected, more or less I know the outcome already as I don't really know how to answer the interview questions. Just wondering don't they need people for the peak period? Have to be really picky to choose?
*
Dude I had the same problem with you, since i failed 1 subject in uni, i got the exact same questions EVERY TIME in the interviews , include the interview with EY recently. This is not a difficult questions tho, just said about the reason ( eg: didn't aware the gap between year 2 and year 3), solution ( change study method/ study hard) and result ( didn't fail again even in ACCA). You can said any reason but please don't blame the lecturer as it will make you sound immature.

The interviewer doesn't mean to challenge you or add add salt to your wound, they just want to know how you deal with your mistake and failure. Just take it easy

Did you have your interview with one of the partners? I just had my interview at EY last saturday. Thank god it was not that stressful and there wasnt any technical questions asked. I felt like it was more of a chit chat session to get to know more about me and if I could really tahan working in audit. It lasted for more than an hour. I’m just really hoping that I’d get the job.

May I know when did you find out about the results after the interview? Like how long did you have to wait? Thank you!

I interview with EY at 28th Oct , and i get reply today. I think you will get reply within 2 week. Good Luck thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

The salary package in big 4 normally is standard and non- negotiable ( at least for fresh graduate)

From the information i get in 2017

EY : 3000 + 250 (ACCA Affiliate) 100 % sure
: 2850 + 250 ( Degree Holder) heard from my friend

PwC : 3200 ( ACCA Affiliate) heard from my friend

KPMG & Deloite : dont know but quite sure will be 3K + for ACCA Affiliate

Normally ACCA Affiliate will get RM 150 more than Degree Holder.
Feel free to update and correct me

I'm guessing you're either an ACCA affiliate or simply having very good Degree result that time, otherwise none of the big 4 will bother to invite.

I applied when my qualifications were 90% completion, just a matter of time I will officially hold both ACCA affiliate title and Degree, they didn't bother.

Once I officially completed (recently), all of them replied.

As of now KP, EY, BDO rejected me after interview (more or less I know the reason, not prepared enough I guess), pwc is my last shot now.
I would like to ask if you know the reason behind your failures that time? I sincerely hope that I will pass the pwc interview and kickstart my career.

Kindly advise me about the pwc interview if you still remember, thanks!

ps: i'm actually working in other audit firm now, already 2 months, i can leave very soon as the notice period is short so no issue of switching, but will the fact that I worked before adversely affect my chances? I'm afraid they will mistook me as being disloyal.
*
I interviewed with pwc last Thursday , I would said it is a challenging behavioral interview , the director have many question about you past experience, about how you dealing with different culture, how you giving feed back to others, how you organize people, do you like account, why your result no so good in certain sem, if people against your opinion what will you do....she keep giving a lot of scenario and ask you how you deal with it. Not very difficult , but you have to give a lot of your story to convince her, quite challenging ( if compare with EY one ,EY is just like a chit chat session)

Since I interned in pwc before, so I skipped the assessment test, other candidate have to do the assessment test and write essay before interview

I think is not a problem you working now, I also working in a small audit firm just one month when I go interiew. They do ask me about my current job.I just tell them the truth but it seem they didn’t bother it and they offer me the job

For the tip, just look back to your life, what success, failure, difficulty you had meet and how you deal with it. Not just academic one, but also curriculum , peer relationship and other aspect. In my opinion, if it come to interview stage ,big 4 interview for fresh graduate not bother about academic ady, they care about you attitude and how you deal with different scenario. Be confident and good luck

May I know how long did they take after the interview to revert back to you?

Also, what do you think the chances are for me who is interviewing in PWC soon but am taking my last 3 papers in Dec 2017?
*
I interviewed at 16 nov, they told me they will revert to me in 10 days. However I told them I have to reply to EY offer on 21 nov and also have to resign from my current job around these day if I want to join pwc in Jan they said they will consider about it. At 20 nov morning, I leave an email to HR ask about their hiring decision since I have to reply EY next day, and the HR call me at evening and offer me the job. I believe that if you have any issue about the date you can tell them

In my opinion, since you can reach interview stage, the academic qualification not bothered you anymore. The interviewer more concern your attitude, communication skill and willingness to join the company. During my intern time, I have many senior haven’t complete their ACCA qualification yet, so don’t worry. Good luck

That's quite prompt from them. If you don't mind, may I ask what's the reason you chose PWC over EY? I am assuming the PWC offer is for the 4 months contract because I am also going for the 4 months contract interview whereas EY offers permanent position.

I'm just abit concerned that PWC might not extend the contract after 4 months if there are better/qualified candidates for next year's July intake. hmm.gif
*
PwC offered me the permanent job position instead of the 4 month one. If they offered me the 4 month contract I will choose EY directly, haha, I don’t like to take the risk.

I choose PwC because I have good internship experience there and PwC have the Industry Xplorer program for fresh graduate, which give me a chance to try different industry. However both EY and PwC are good tho, PWC just my own preference

just a bit curious
but is it true that the minimum cgpa for pwc is 3.5?
cause i hear from a senior and some friends that other than pwc the other firms only require around 3.0 to 3.2
*

Nop, cause my cgpa just 3.3, I think PwC Requirement is 3.0 , if not mistaken

Wow, that's good for you because you got the permanent one. But I am gonna make do with the opportunities presented to me, in this case, the 4 months contract.

May I know how long does the interview last? Are there any questions that you did not expect being asked but were asked by the interviewers?
*
They didn’t give technical question at all, all behavioral question. The interviewer will have a evaluation form and they will ask the question and give mark on it

The interview is quite serious, not like chit chatting. You can’t answer the question too general, you have to give them example, like the question do you have experience working with people that have different culture? You can’t just answer yes I do, you have to give her the whole story. They do ask me about why you result drop in certain sem, I have to tell the truth and tell them what I learn from it and what the changes I made. The most difficult question I have is do I apply accounting standard on any event, I just tell them I just start working and till now ... no

In short, you have to be yourself, those answer is all about your past experience and is difficult to faked a story that moment

So they actually offered it to you in the end of your internship (VT) or how did you approach them do you mind telling?

I interned there 2 years back and I'd love to go back if there is any chance  biggrin.gif I phoned the recruiter whom I liaised with back then but she informed that only 4 months contract option is available.

Anyway my friend who applied in May this year is only going to commence work next Jan  laugh.gif

I also interned 2 years ago haha. I just apply through their portal as others do. At first they asked me if I interested with the 4 month contract, but during phone screening they offered me the permanent position , I don’t know why
