Hi, may I know has anyone interned in any of Big 4 before? If possible, may I know how was your experience as well?

The reason why am I asking these is because my lecturers discourage me to intern in Big 4 as they provide lesser exposure to internship students...  May I know is it true?
*
Well, I graduated many years ago, not sure the below experience still relevant.

I had my internship in one of the well known mid-tier firm before, and I joined one of the big 4 once I graduated from university. During my internship days, I was assigned to perform P&L testing, simple analytical procedures, review of statutory records and simple test of controls (SME engagement). My friend who had internship in one of the big four, he was assigned to perform P&L vouching (MNC and listed company audit).

I believe that's the exposure part mentioned by your lecturers. Nevertheless, I don't think the internship exposure matters much for your future employment, since an intern will not be expected to involve significantly in the audit engagement.

However, if you would like to get into big 4 in the future, maybe you should just apply for big 4 internship program. If you get to know some managers/seniors, you may get a referral in the future right.

Just my 2 cents.

Dear Sifus and seniors,

Can I know of there is any minimum acceptance for fresh grad each year for big 4?

From what I heard, the min requirements for cgpa for fresh grad to enter is cgpa 3.0, is this still relevant? Cz I had applied for an internship in Deloitte but haven't got any replies from them and I guess it's due to my cgpa 3.2. My friends who got cgpa 3.5 above all got email replied from Deloitte. Luckily I got an internship with PwC this coming Feb tho😊

So I am super worried that I might not get a job in big 4 if my cgpa is still around 3.2. Does it diffenciate me alot form others due to my CGPA? I got nice SPM and diploma results, but my degree results just sucks.

Appreciate if any Sifus can give me a piece of advice on this matter☺☺

If I was offered the job as an audit associate in both EY and KPMG penang, which should I choose? Which have better work life balance? Which treated employees more humane?

avoid KPMG.

Ditto. I still remember my interview with KPMG...waited freaking 3-4 hours for the interviewer to show up. Supposed to have the interview at 2 or 3pm (I can't remember), the interviewer only came at 6pm. Even the receptionist also went home and asked me to off the lights myself.

And when I finally had my interview, the interviewer asked me what motivates me. I answered appreciation for my work. The interviewer said she cannot remember a single time she has ever thanked anyone in her team.

WTF right. I only stayed there waiting for so long because I already came all the way from my hometown to KL just for the interview, so might as well wait.

Yeah, I ended up joining EY and I got along well with the team I worked with, although the workload was pretty crap.

But of course, every firm has their own politics - just need to know how to navigate through it and block it out.

I saw a lot of people here worrying about that entry possibility to big 4. Actually i think its quite easy to get in LOL. With that being said, i was offered KPMG Penang & EY Penang previously. Two of my friends with the same degree as mine got into PWC Penang, while another friend joined EY KL.

Is the big 4 grind worth it? Maybe if you don't mind working 16 hours a day and nobody appreciates your work after all. Partner cares about their profit sharing, managers care about upholding their "prestigious" status.

But i still reckon people to join audit, not necessarily big 4 cause i know in KL they put you into a specific industry like my fren at EY KL who is doing only financial/banking industry. You get no chances to go other places which are the fun part of audit. One time i ended up in some oil palm plantation farm in Johol (no typo).

Yeah not sure what Deloitte are looking for, me and most friends have had applications accepted by the other 3 Big 4 with no issues, Deloitte seems to be looking for something else. Which is ironic because they are the last choice for most graduates.

I know right? I apply all big 4, every one accepts me except Deloitte, without even a reply from them 🌚 so I was wondering if they were looking for first class students lol

Super agree with the kedekut marks! I kena a kedekut tutor this sem so our class assignment marks were so low compare to my other classmates with different tutor. It really depends on ur tutor sometimes for a good CGPA
