Why did the company states in email 'your qualifications did not meet the criteria' after I interviewed?

Does that mean my interview failed?

Or my education level did not meet the criteria? If so, why waste both our times doing the interview?

just my perspective
but i would think that it has to do with the interview?
your education level/cgpa must have reach their expectations thats why you were able to reach until the interview phase

qualifications doesnt necessarily mean only academic right sweat.gif

reading from the posts here, it seems that if you have gotten to the interview stage, they would have based their decisions on everything else other than academics
like your attitude and personality through your performance in the group test, f2f and essay writing (my guess is that its kpmg)

Hey guys .. I did read all the posts here and got a rough idea on how the process works but yet I still want to hear your 2cents on my situation.
I applied to all big 4 on 1/2 nov for tax position. 2 weeks later I called all and checked with them and only kpmg replied requesting me to take the online assessment which I failed and requested me to do again. The other 3 have been silent and it’s been the 3rd week since I applied. I did call them and I’ve been told the person in charge will call and this is been going on. I totally understand that it’s extremely busy period for hiring.
Should I assume I’ve failed in my applications? I’m highly interested in tax area. I’m a law graduate with second lower class.i worked in bdo for a year for tax.
Do I stand a chance for big 4 (particularly pwc)
Thanks for your replies and sorry for the long post!

Your timing is not good.
The intake for this year already ended.
Guess you have to wait until next year before they reply to you.

Ahh... I see. So basically when I am able to reach the interview stage, academics results won't matter anymore?

And yes you are right, its KP. I must've performed poorly during the interviews. unsure.gif

All these happened months ago in June/July. Applied via website, waited for 1-2 weeks, no reply. Decided to call up HR to ask about the application. They do the screening right then and sent me an email to do the online assessment.

Passed the assessment and invited to interview in 1 week. Waited for another week after interview for results. thumbup.gif

dont give up smile.gif if you read through the past few pages of this forum, you'll see that a few forumers were discussing failing the KPMG interview as well as what the big4 are looking for in terms of personality and behaviour.

oh and you could always apply again anyway

i had a friend who failed to get into any big 4 because of low cgpa and after working at mid size firm for a few years, he managed to secure an interview with KPMG as an audit senior recently.

true, last 3 years, I failed all my interviews with PwC, EY, and KPMG. however after getting 2 years audit experience from a bank, I got a call from deloitte and successfully gotten an offer from them. just go with the flow and try your best, and let God do the rest 😁

I'm guessing you're either an ACCA affiliate or simply having very good Degree result that time, otherwise none of the big 4 will bother to invite.

I applied when my qualifications were 90% completion, just a matter of time I will officially hold both ACCA affiliate title and Degree, they didn't bother.

Once I officially completed (recently), all of them replied.

As of now KP, EY, BDO rejected me after interview (more or less I know the reason, not prepared enough I guess), pwc is my last shot now.
I would like to ask if you know the reason behind your failures that time? I sincerely hope that I will pass the pwc interview and kickstart my career.

Kindly advise me about the pwc interview if you still remember, thanks!

ps: i'm actually working in other audit firm now, already 2 months, i can leave very soon as the notice period is short so no issue of switching, but will the fact that I worked before adversely affect my chances? I'm afraid they will mistook me as being disloyal.

once you got into the interview, it’s more like the way you handle the interview and how well you communicate with the interviewers.

they will want someone who can connect and work with them, the knowledge and experiences are bonuses.

the trick is, just be yourself and try to blend in with the interviewers as good as you can 😁

Be happy you got rejected by BDO.. 100% chinamen company with similar culture and attitude.. not worth the pain unless it’s big4

Good luck for the pwc interview.. show your enthusiasm and willingness to contribute to the team and the form

I interviewed with pwc last Thursday , I would said it is a challenging behavioral interview , the director have many question about you past experience, about how you dealing with different culture, how you giving feed back to others, how you organize people, do you like account, why your result no so good in certain sem, if people against your opinion what will you do....she keep giving a lot of scenario and ask you how you deal with it. Not very difficult , but you have to give a lot of your story to convince her, quite challenging ( if compare with EY one ,EY is just like a chit chat session)

Since I interned in pwc before, so I skipped the assessment test, other candidate have to do the assessment test and write essay before interview

I think is not a problem you working now, I also working in a small audit firm just one month when I go interiew. They do ask me about my current job.I just tell them the truth but it seem they didn’t bother it and they offer me the job

For the tip, just look back to your life, what success, failure, difficulty you had meet and how you deal with it. Not just academic one, but also curriculum , peer relationship and other aspect. In my opinion, if it come to interview stage ,big 4 interview for fresh graduate not bother about academic ady, they care about you attitude and how you deal with different scenario. Be confident and good luck

May I know how long did they take after the interview to revert back to you?

Also, what do you think the chances are for me who is interviewing in PWC soon but am taking my last 3 papers in Dec 2017?

I interviewed at 16 nov, they told me they will revert to me in 10 days. However I told them I have to reply to EY offer on 21 nov and also have to resign from my current job around these day if I want to join pwc in Jan they said they will consider about it. At 20 nov morning, I leave an email to HR ask about their hiring decision since I have to reply EY next day, and the HR call me at evening and offer me the job. I believe that if you have any issue about the date you can tell them

In my opinion, since you can reach interview stage, the academic qualification not bothered you anymore. The interviewer more concern your attitude, communication skill and willingness to join the company. During my intern time, I have many senior haven’t complete their ACCA qualification yet, so don’t worry. Good luck

That's quite prompt from them. If you don't mind, may I ask what's the reason you chose PWC over EY? I am assuming the PWC offer is for the 4 months contract because I am also going for the 4 months contract interview whereas EY offers permanent position.

I'm just abit concerned that PWC might not extend the contract after 4 months if there are better/qualified candidates for next year's July intake. hmm.gif

PwC offered me the permanent job position instead of the 4 month one. If they offered me the 4 month contract I will choose EY directly, haha, I don’t like to take the risk.

I choose PwC because I have good internship experience there and PwC have the Industry Xplorer program for fresh graduate, which give me a chance to try different industry. However both EY and PwC are good tho, PWC just my own preference
