Hey guys, I was just wonderin... has anyone of u tried to connect a USB keyboard to the 360? Coz I saw the dashboard update got say something about adding compatibility to USB keyboards... hand a bit itchy but scared to connect my cheapo RM25 keyboard...

On a related note, can we connect a mouse to the 360 as well?

I'm just curious on the functionality of these two devices on the console (eg. like in first person shooters)... any games supportin the use of these devices?

IINM, u can plug in a USB keyboard because it supports plug n play.. it was already stated during launch that u can use it to type messages to friends via live.

for the mouse + keyboard combo for FPS, XCM has this new gadget called XFPS360; an adapter to combine both keyboard and mouse.

check it out here

with XFPS360, u can even put in a PS2 controller, and 2 more additional x360 wired controllers!

how's tht for a combo!

the usb keyboard can be used to type messages and navigate thru menus in the dashboard & guide. it's supported since day 1, only later they added extra features like arrow keys navigation and additional compatibility for wireless usb keyboards (must use the keyboard's usb dongle of coz).

the only game that i know that makes use of the keyboard is Final Fantasy XI (tried the demo), never heard of others. mouse? so far no use of it, but i never plugged one in before... maybe i'll try tomorrow tongue.gif

any HID compliant usb keyboard should work... im using Dell entry USB

OT: among other usb things that u can cucuk into ur 360:
- ipod: recognize ipod playlists directly, MP3 and unprotected AAC (download add-on from XBLM)
- usb mass storage (fat32 only, i dont think ntfs works): music, photos, videos
- psp (works as usb mass storage device)
- and sometimes i charge my k750i tongue.gif too bad cant access data coz non-standard usb mass storage

i think he meant play and view pictures, dont think u can copy to 360... only way to keep songs in the 360 hdd is ripping audio cd on the 360 itself
