Yeah, tax is high and i'm paying 38% tax bracket.
as per ATO tax rates 2016-17: $180,001 and over $54,232 plus 45c for each $1 over $180,000

38% tax means you are earning at least $380,000/annum.

good money.

Well, that's what it is.
BTW, i got 4 blokes working on site based on this rate as general labour now.
*
Just FYI, refer to fairwork's website:

What is the current national minimum wage?

The national minimum wage is currently $17.70 per hour or $672.70 per 38 hour week (before tax).

Casual employees covered by the national minimum wage also get at least a 25 per cent casual loading.

I just fired a guy who said he can work and got job site experience. Later when i saw him working like a woman. Not to disrespect the ladies but this guy just try to bluff me so get him fired less than half day.

Yes, i'm aware on that and i pay cash too. i'm not trying to challenge the system but the market here just way too many people jobless and sitting there doing nothing. when i flagged saying $20/hour, everyone just rang non-stop.

Well, try to ask for higher pay for $26/hr and i bet you can't get a job outside.
*
There is no right or wrong here. You give job to a jobless guy, the jobless guy is happy to take up a job, win-win situation.

But bear in mind there are a lot of cases now whereby employers are being investigated due to underpaying their staffs. And don't forget, this is not Malaysia. When an unhappy employee speaks up, the authority will step in.

Lastly, I do not think it is a good idea to publicly publish your rate here, that should be kept between you and your workers.

from UK, talk and listening no problem but writing is shit. i've seen their essay before and is totally bull$hit and also can get band 8. malaysian english not that char one but the conversation and listening char nia.
*
Not sure what essay are you referring to. AFAIK, the candidates are required to submit their essays and they will not be given a copy.

And yes I agree with he above, they are native english speakers, even if they bullshit, they can still get band 8 with grammatically correct english.

Uh I guess it wasn't very clear biggrin.gif I'm not moving to Australia which means I will need the RRV if I ever decide to move.
*
unless you have a valid story to tell, slim chance that DIBP will grant an RRV if you do not fulfil the minimum stay requirement.

sorry don't quite follow what you're saying. Are you saying a degree is not mandatory to apply for a job in Australia (if my job is in the list of desirable jobs)
*
Degree is not mandatory. However, some professional jobs may require certain certification/degree.
My wife has no degree but she is earning pretty decently.

Hey guys, I just came back from Brissie (3 weeks of short stint with a government agency). During my time there, I have heard that the job outlook isn't very positive as most of the vacancies available now are mainly temp/contract. I am working under accounting industry (public practice to be precise).

My PR is currently running (left 3 years ++) and I have not make a move as I was unsure about the job security in Brisbane. To those who are now in Down Under, are you able to confirm me whether the unemployability rate is rising?. Thanks.
*
I am not from accounting but I would suggest you to search through job sites such as www.seek.com.au to have an insight of the job market.

account is in deep sh*t now. way too many. company closing down and there won't be any vacancies until next year. i know this sounds crazy but SOL still listing account as high demand job. Obviously the immigration dept are not talking to the industries.
I suggest that you take up cert 3 or 4 on other trades to work as aged care or daycare?
*
how about showing some numbers to support your "fact"?

QUOTE(Nemesis1980 @ Aug 23 2017, 02:25 PM)
obviously based on my circle of friends and it's not friend's friend and it's close friends, 15 are accounts and 3 with permanent job, 6 with contract 6 months and 6 jobless hanging for a year working as uber and coles. If this fact is not strong enough, my wife is a qualified accountant too and working under contract too.
I only telling the real life situation here. If any accountant out there still thinking try to source thru seekdotcom, well, do a calculation how many jobs are permanent and contract AND same job repeated by the recruiters. WHY? I did post a job vacancies before and 5 recruiters turn up asking for that bloody job to be posted under their agency to earn commission OR they'll just to get your database HOW? they'll ask you to send word format instead of PDF.
*
Based on my circle of friends who are also "not friend's friend and it's close friends", (Unfortunately, I only have 6 of them with accounting backgrounds) all of them are employed, permanent full time, 3 are working with big MNCs. Can i go around telling people the job market for accountants is fantastic based on my "real life situation"?
No , i can't.
It is very subjective whether you can get your preferred job, especially during this tough time.
So, instead of jumping into conclusion and ask someone to "take up cert 3 or 4 on other trades to work as aged care or daycare", wouldn't it be better to provide proper guidance so he/she can make the decision whether to pull the trigger?

P/S: please refer back to the post and find out what is the main concern.

When it came to the 6 person who actually jobless in accounting more than a year, i absolutely will ask them to look for 2nd option OR go back till the good time return. If they're single w/o kids is easy, but with whole family will be different story. BTW the 6 person are with families with at least a kid with them. So, what do you reckon then? hmm.gif
*
1st: they are your close friends, I do not know them well enough to provide recommendations.
2nd: I assume they are adults, they should have their plannings done well in advance.
3rd: if they are happy with their lives now, who am I to question their choices?
4th: If they are not happy with their lives, then why are they still here? What have they done to improve the situation?
Lastly, have they tried "take up cert 3 or 4 on other trades to work as aged care or daycare"?

which airport? as I know Sydney airport don't accept Malaysia passport for smart gate yet, just been there last 2 months. PR different story
*
Perth airport. They do not specify malaysian passport can go through autogate, but as long as you have the biometric passport, you can go ahead and use it. Not sure about other visa, but I personally use the autogate everytime.

Aust their 3rd (sometimes 4th) choice. They still love the US, England and Canada. Anything that can rid them of their South Asian passports, which most of them call 'useless' because of so many visa restrictions.
*
It doesn't matter which choice, they are still the largest migrant group into Australia. How many of them are actually legit? We wouldn't know.

Hello. Just wanna ask what is the best way to transfer money back to Malaysia bank account from Australia? I mean the cheapest way

I have tried using HSBC Australia. They charged me AUD50 for one transaction, 1-2 working days
*
I use HSBC global transfer. Instant and free of charge.

Otherwise, if the amount is small, use Citibank debit card and withdraw RM from Malaysia ATM as suggested above.
