Hi guys n gals, we all know there is an unofficial 2500 posts / 125 pages per thread 'limit' and that once a thread reaches that number, people sometimes say ok time to close and open new thread.

Is this really required? Surely nowadays there aren't any real technical limitations to letting a thread go on for eternity, no?
