QUOTE(Avangelice @ Feb 13 2017, 11:33 AM) TENAGA jumped from 13.4 to 13.5. hope it continues the trend. I noticed 13.4 is th actual limit of the price. (don't know the right word of it) Yup, I managed to buy TENAGA and CIMB today. But my TENAGA entry price was higher than yours at RM13.50. Vs jumped from 1.50 to 1.62. both timings were right I am going fishing again tomorrow for Genting Berhad and HEIM. Hopefully can get a good price. |

QUOTE(Avangelice @ Feb 13 2017, 05:59 PM) frustrating isn't it. you know the how and where to make money work for you but you don't have enough There are different categories of people bro:-1. People who are good at generating active income but bad at generating passive income 2. People who are good at generating passive income but are limited by their ability to generate active income 3. People who are bad at generating active and passive income (net spender) 4. People who are good at generating active and passive income (net investor) 5. Other categories? Category 4 will become millionaires. Category 3 will be filing for bankruptcy. Most people will fall either under Category 1 or 2. My 2 cents as usual. |

QUOTE(river.sand @ Feb 14 2017, 10:29 PM) Do you buy stocks like you do unit trust? Thanks for the heads up bro. In unit trust we do asset allocation. But when it comes to stocks, aside from diversification, we also try to buy at 'right price'. It is just a trial and error process for me. I just look at all the recommendations by the different investment bankers and look at the highest and lowest price for the particular stock for the past 52 weeks. I also try to understand the business model of the stock in general. This is how I try to find the so called safety margin, i.e. buy at the 'right price'. A combination of defensive stocks and not many cyclical stocks in my portfolio. Keeping my fingers crossed. P/S: Analysing the audited account in detail is beyond me. QUOTE(Boon3 @ Feb 15 2017, 12:37 AM) Nope cos it's unreliable. I still have a lot to learn. How could be a starting point when it's an unreliable reference point? It's just a glorified adjective used by market commentators. I only know the basics of stock measurements such as PE ratio, EPS, ROE, NTA, Dividend Yield, etc. Hope to learn more from the sifus here. QUOTE(max_cavalera @ Feb 15 2017, 12:46 AM) I am a late comer to the party. Have a lot of catching up to do. QUOTE(zDarkForceSz @ Feb 15 2017, 09:57 AM) Safety margin is measure from [company value against share price] not [Highs/Lows Price against share price] Of course. We are back to the question of intrinsic value of a company.Low can possibly go lower and High can possibly go higher. Price is what you pay, Value is what you get. Buying stock is like going to pasar buy vegetables. On a separate note, what is the right way to build a portfolio? VA, DCA or the Dow Dividend Strategies are some of the popular methods used. Can these methods be used in Malaysia? I wonder how the sifus here determine the value of a share? Using fundamental analysis or technical analysis or using a combination of both methods? QUOTE(zDarkForceSz @ Feb 15 2017, 11:32 AM) me no sifu, rookie league only. Hi thanks for the reply. For now, I am only buying blue chip stocks...Mine is actually pretty simple. Invest in stock = Joining into a business. Start by picking up a sector in Bursa (Agri, Gloves, Steel, Construction, Property etc.) Read the quarter report, annual report. You will get alot info here. Just use those simple stock measurements you know of PE, EPS, ROE, etc. QOQ, YOY. you think the business is good then invest lo. Those intrinsic value you speak of varies from person to person. eg. SOLUTN for me I won't buy if the price is above 0.26. QUOTE(Pink Spider @ Feb 15 2017, 11:42 AM) Why would u buy...Magnum Eh, I thought it is a good buy. Kenanga say target price is RM2.520 wor. Time will tell. Nowadays almost everyone I know buy from underground Wah. Ada orang main warrant Boss, can I do trading now with some of my shares? Last time, you taruh me in FSM forum for doing trading in unit trusts. This post has been edited by Vanguard 2015: Feb 15 2017, 12:05 PM |

QUOTE(Pink Spider @ Feb 15 2017, 12:00 PM) Thank kiu, thank kiu. But share trading seems to be a dangerous game. I just found this morning that my trading limit is now X2 of my gross share investment. So in practice, I can actually buy shares with money that I don't have. This is a totally different ball game from FSM unit trust. QUOTE(zDarkForceSz @ Feb 15 2017, 12:03 PM) Aiyoh...never mind. Let me hold Magnum for a while and see how it performs. This post has been edited by Vanguard 2015: Feb 15 2017, 12:14 PM |

QUOTE(Pink Spider @ Feb 15 2017, 02:50 PM) I'm a very practical man...I don't believe in paper trading and all those apalanjiao theories I have no titanium balls. I prefer a stable portfolio. If possible, 80% blue chip stocks with steady dividend (for stock investment). 20% for growth stocks and out of that, maybe 10% for trading stocks. Cantonese have a saying, "if the needle never poked you, you will never know pain", i.e. if u don't feel pain, u will never learn To me, investing is more art than science. Read as many musical books u want, but if u never screw up on stage and try some new stuff and see what works and what won't, it won't stick in your head. Is my present portfolio OK? |

QUOTE(gark @ Feb 15 2017, 03:16 PM) Eh, but that's what the remisier told me this morning when I called him to ask why my trading limit has been increased He said I have T+3 to settle. If I don't pay by T+4, then they will force sell. Now I am confused. I don't re-call applying for a margin account. QUOTE(gark @ Feb 15 2017, 03:19 PM) Not all blue chip is good leh... Some blue chip can kill all your capital one. Would diversification in the portfolio help? Same like asset allocation in unit trusts?Look at stocks like a business, not through ranking.. etc. Thanks. I agree that we should view the stocks as business unless it is a 'goreng' stock. This post has been edited by Vanguard 2015: Feb 15 2017, 03:36 PM |

I bought some MQREIT shares today. I now have 12 stocks already.
Sifus, may I know how many different stocks should we have in our portfolio? Some books say 10, some books say can be up to 20. Some say it is the value of the stocks that matter, not the number of different stocks you have. BTW, what is the difference between this thread and the Stock Market Discussion thread? Isn't it an overlap? |
