One thing to warn all investors.. The biggest bomb to look out for in financial statements is perpetual bonds/debt... in which do no which accounting body deem it to be 'reasonable' to include that as an 'asset/equity' for NTA calculation. In which right mind a debt can be considered an asset.. Pui... Accountant come mai explain.. This post has been edited by gark: Apr 12 2017, 02:39 PM

QUOTE(Pink Spider @ Apr 12 2017, 02:58 PM) So it's like irredeemable preference shares The thing is.. perpetual bonds are redeemable... also the interest rate is on step up and goes higher for each period, the company who subscribe it sooner or later need to pay the debt because the interest will get very high. If you want go read Mah Sing perpetual 6.7% .. after certain years interest can jump to 15% and keep going higher every year... if they don't redeem. Before pay treat like equity, after pay treat like debt... You start think accountants draft policy while high on funny water... This post has been edited by gark: Apr 12 2017, 03:52 PM

QUOTE(lowya @ Apr 12 2017, 02:56 PM) do u mean the perpetual bond issued by the company or one that the company subscribe to? from google: Company subscribe to, then they put their debt as equity... if redeem straight to current liabilities.. Most company use these to mask/hide their actual debt level...

QUOTE(Pink Spider @ Apr 12 2017, 04:06 PM) Whose call is it to redeem or not? Is it redeemable at full discretion of the company? If yes, I think it's fair to treat it as equity. Yes at discretion of company... But the step up interest.. means it not actually perpetual.. just debt in disguise.
