Of course lar... you always value your shares at current price not at the price you bought.. tongue.gif

Value is not equal to price ...many people confuse this tongue.gif

If one thinks value is too high, but it's a good cash making machine, why sell? Better to hold it right and get cash rather than sell and get one time gain? There's no guarantee you can buy again at that old price.

It doesn't make sense.
*
If you got another candidate with better valuation, why not? It is like I sell overvalued MY reits and buy undervalue SG reits.. no regrets there wat. tongue.gif

Unless you got no other candidate or dun wan bother then continue to hold la...

Ya la. If can find replacement.  tongue.gif If S-reits overvalue and MY undervalue, you switch it back?  hmm.gif

*
If the reverse is true.. of course. rclxms.gif

Still you need to value your shares at current price to know if they under, fairly or over valued..

To screen the debts of the company, do we use Ratio of Debts to Assets or Total Liabilities to Equity ratio?

Also if I am looking for a company with little/zero debts, what should the range of the ratio be?

Thank you.  notworthy.gif
*
Liabilities to equity ratio (gearing ratio) is more commonly used. But both also can la.

Not all debts are bad..

If you want a zero or low debt company, you must check liquid cash at hand - total loans = if positive then is a net cash company.

trade payable no need check, but if current receivables = current liabilities, should be ok.

But if I want to screen zero/low debt company, which criteria should I use?
Takkan want to look at each country one by one? Sure there's a way to screen it using the broker screener program.
What I meant is there must be a way to filter out companies with high debts. From there manually analyse one by one by pulling out all their financial reports.
*
No pain.. no gain... tongue.gif

How else do you think we select stocks..

You can shortlist stocks with low and negative gearing.. and work from there.

Buy at what price?

For discussion, share what did you replace with?

Personally I don't mind 1-2 nice dividend stock in the portfolio. Have regular stream of money inflow. Not bad what...
*
My divvy stocks all in sg.

Maybank average below 8. Replaced with growth share. Nothing personal, just portfolio restructuring..

That's what I want to know. What's the criteria to shortlist stocks with low and negative gearing?
Use Liabilities to equity ratio as mentioned previously?

Also, what ratio number is considered good for low debts/zero debts? (Eg. 1, 2, 3,..)
*
Dunno lo.. just try a few number, open up the account and see if it fits what you want. tongue.gif

I been pondering if I should sell my tenaga stocks. I do not see our currency improving anytime soon and I believe part of tenaga's assets are in foreign investments.

kan anyone advise me on this before I sleep on it?
*
Wrote a whole bunch of comments on tenaga some time ago... Its a slow stock with lots of patience needed.
