QUOTE(Boon3 @ Feb 6 2017, 11:53 AM) The idea of playing LONG is based on WBuffett's Time is the friend of the wonderful business. I do agree about the forex issues but taken into consideration that they have acquired new assets lately and the sold power provider in malaysia (not inclusive of SESCO in sarawak), Tenaga is a stock to be keeping in a long run. Also many factors affect this stock such as the price of coals and tariffs but at the end of the day all the costs will be transfered to the Rakyat again. So worth keeping. You buy a wonderful business and in the long run, the business will flourish greatly. It holds true for trading too. Some stocks can really flourish and grow into multi baggers. All it needs is time. Let the winners run. However....I do not believe in using long time for any stocks. Like the story of DRB stock told recently. The longer one holds...the greater the stock diminish in value. So for Tenaga. As it is.... The greatest setback is the USD factor. Tenaga has far too much borrowings in USD. Hence, as long as the USD remains strong... The company will have large forex losses.... Given such a scenario.... There isn't much catalyst for the time being for the big boys to play up the stock.... |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Feb 6 2017, 12:10 PM) Yes..the company has several plus factors. yes I do know what you mean. Tenaga has been declining for the past year and more (used to be around 15 myr per stock) so I think we have hit rock bottom for its current price.Anyway.... in time...you will see what I try to say.... Anyway good luck |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Feb 7 2017, 10:37 AM) If you feel you want to be in this game for a long time, don't rush to play. Yes boss. Tenaga target price is 14 to 15 myr range in the second quarter or third quarter of this year after dividend give out in may. Reasoning is that the cost will be passed onto consumers and sell before election as politians tend to promise to reduce tariffs to win votes.Do fake trading like I did b4. I did many years of fake trading. Practice practice practice b4 i played with real money. That was my learning and it came without tuition fees. And also in stocks..for me... It's always about trading corretly.... In a sense....the returns must be there....else i won't be bothered.... It was not a case of big rush to chase returns... It's all about doing it logically right.... The rewards, the returns must be there....else why bother. It's same with investing.... If the returns are not meaningful, why bother? So tenaga.... Do you have a target price for your investment? |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Feb 7 2017, 12:29 PM) Not much meat.....i feel Speculating isn't based on objective findings kan? Just whack and hope it goes up. I have a time line for it. By may to June is the time I reap the dividednds and wait for it to reach target price. Maybe hold longer as elections in Malaysia have been shown to affect the economy albeit a short term effect. So I'll sell all and lock my profits then. And....errr...sounds a bit confusing for me.... On one hand you think the rising cost will be passed on (but how can tenaga raise tariff now without consent of the govt?) ....and then you talk about the possible election promise to reduce tariffs.... errr....? No matter what...you do understand that you are speculating....right? |

QUOTE(gark @ Feb 7 2017, 01:19 PM) Tenaga already inked cost pass through mechanism with the government, so even if tariff hike up or down it will not matter to tenaga. If cost up, gov pay tenaga, if cost down tenaga pays the govt. So the margins will be super stable. Well like I always pointed out. How many power providers do We have in Malaysia? What happens when land becomes too expensive in the future? And who knows when the day comes we replace coal which is currently the bane of tenagaIn terms of profit growth .. it will be muted, but it has hinted it will pay more dividends with its huge cash pile. And it will invest more overseas by raising its gearing level which can be a double edge sword ( in terms foreign risk and more debt). IMHO i think the jewel in tenaga's asset which no one notices, is the nationwide transmission network... if they just list it as a trust or reit .. shareholders will reap huge rewards. |

QUOTE(Pink Spider @ Feb 8 2017, 09:48 AM) Stocks sure more volatile wan ma thank you buddy. I'll try to not keep looking at the stock movement and continue saving money for TAAN.Those that I buy as speculation I will monitor more closely Those for long-term, I'd just ignore. Like Ta Ann, u know at one time my losses quite big? But my patience is rewarded |

QUOTE(Pink Spider @ Feb 10 2017, 11:03 AM) U gonna be a millionaire in no time not one of a risk taker but thank you for your input. I believe KWSP recently purchased TAAN?So ezi dapat 3K after a week or so  Ta Ann I think limited upside liao, maybe u wanna try look at JTIASA, though this is a bit more riskier looks like it's back to the drawing board. now I understand why people look into unit trust. there's so much to choose from Bursa. another one I'm thinking of is Mikromb and vs induatry. been studying it for awhile and not much movement. QUOTE(Vanguard 2015 @ Feb 13 2017, 11:02 AM) I bought these shares last week - HEIM, CIMB and PavReit. TENAGA jumped from 13.4 to 13.5. hope it continues the trend. I noticed 13.4 is th actual limit of the price. (don't know the right word of it) This morning I bought Magnum. Now trying to buy TENAGA and Genting Berhad. Not easy to get CIMB shares. P/S: Stocks for short run trading - Air Asia and Old Town? Vs jumped from 1.50 to 1.62. both timings were right |
