Usually we use P/B, cost to income, NPL ratio to rate a bank

Oh I see. But my conclusion still remains the same. MBSB koyak. biggrin.gif

P/S: Too much info on MBSB for me to post. So I opted for the mee maggi approach. Cepat dimasak, sedap dimakan.

Previously I used the Vanguard's crystal ball and ended up with some of the your listed stocks in my current portfolio. MPI, Taan and TGuan. Some of the other stocks in your list are too "expensive". Opps, wrong word to use. Overvalued or limited upside potential is the correct word?

I buy on tikam bro, can use PE to calculate mbsb stil undergoing some merging discussion and yet the true value of the bank itself yet to show..buy and hold for longer time needed (1-2 year).  if u use all ratio to calculate memang all koyak, but this counter consider undervalue stock from banking segment.

Noted bro. May be the odds be ever in your favour. biggrin.gif

Notice that you own Genting. Mind telling us your reasons for investing in this stock?

I used to own GENM, but have sold it.

Take note that while Genting Group boss LKT is the best paid director in Malaysia, all companies in this group give very little dividend. This could have adverse effect on the stock prices.
*
The fundamentals are OK. It is rated as outperform. The upside potential is 10.63%. They have some new attractions in Genting. The stock has gone up about 10% since I bought it last month.

From trader perspective,  never catch a falling knives.

From investor perspective,  be careful when doing this approach. U simply buta buta use this technique you get out from stock market also fast. Where do u see Kimlun next year?  How about next 5 years?

Just friendly advice...
*
Hi thank you for the advice. I do appreciate it.

I don't have a margin trading account, so I am using cash to buy. Of course, I never discount the possibility of doing contra trading in the future. tongue.gif

Actually Kimlun was on my watch list together with Mitra and Kerjaya Prospek. The fundamentals of Kimlun checks out. It has a rating of 10. How do I see Kimlun in 5 years? I don't know how the construction industry will perform in the next 5 years. As long as Kimlun can manage the 3D risk in the construction industry, then it should be OK.

P/S: I am not sure whether I will holding Kimlun for 5 years. The construction industry in Malaysia is......quite murky. ph34r.gif

Lesson learned.

Kimlun was downgraded by Kenanga from outperform to market perform today with a TP price of RM2.27. This was after the analyst(s) attended a briefing by Kimlun yesterday and noted the demand gap for manufacturing orders. Kimlun's FY17-18E earnings was reduced by 16.9%.

I am selling off Kimlun and jumping to a better horse, KESM. biggrin.gif Minor loss. Mosquito bite only.

P/S: Doesn't this constitute as insider trading? I assume the analysts just came out from the meeting yesterday and start calling all their clients to sell Kimlun? The company update on Kimlun only came out this morning. TNS.

Yes, possibly a trader. I am just trying out different styles of "investing". tongue.gif

Tripled my investment in KESM today. Bought 2 batches for RM10.30 and RM10.340. KESM closed at RM10.80 (+7.78%). My unrealised gain is +5.478%. Please rise again next Monday KESM. smile.gif

How's the return from your stock experience vs unit trust?
*
For unit trust investment, I am the passenger. You can see the car/unit trust but you don't know exactly what is under the hood.

For stock investment, I am the driver. I decide where to go, ie what stocks to buy.

Too early to tell which return is better. But stock investment is definitely more time consuming and need more monitoring. Also more high risk! 😅

Not important for me driver or passenger. Most important is the return at the end. Does the risk in stock make higher return than unit trust? If difference only few % then the risk reward ratio does not justify.

I'm also investing in both so need learn from your exp which better so I can switch hehe to the better one
*
I think you should try both and decide which suit your risk appetite more. Learn from the sifus here and from reading good investment books.

Unfortunately my kung fu level is not high enough for you to learn from my experience. 😅 For unit trusts I aim for 8% pa to 10% return p.a. For stocks, IMHO we should aim for 12% to 15% p.a. There will be years when the Portfolio will turn negative due to global economic downturn but we just have to ride the wave.

I am applying both methods. Gadang fits both categories now.

On paper, Gadang's fundamentals are sound. Rating of 9. But I do have some reservations because it is a construction counter.

Kimlun, mitra not construction?

Chances of me ending up as pisang goreng is quite high. The bankruptcy form is on standby on my table. sweat.gif

I limit my construction portfolio to max 15%. Should be ok I hope. I think I am currently invested in about 10 different industries. biggrin.gif

HOLD = sell 80-90%
SELL = you banyak late liao

So for TA ANN, when the ANALysts say HOLD, it actually mean SELL? Then I die lor. Let me find a counter which can gain 6% within a short span of time and I will swap TA ANN with the new stock. I have to get info from the chartist first. bruce.gif
