Here's a mod with a difference this time. Only modding the case this time. Haven't bought the hardware yet. Doing up the case nicely in preparation for the upcoming all new hardware that'll soon go into it.

This case is gonna b called Red Hot Chilli Pepper. Why? U'll just hafta wait n c.

Here r sum pix just to kick off the mods.


What case r we using for this mod? The TT Shark again. This case seems to be really popular. Mebe it's even more popular now coz ppl now know a side window can be modded for it. Many ppl hesitated to buy this case previously coz there's no window to show off the internals. Anyway, here's the pix of the Red Hot Chilli Pepper being harvested from the farm.

Check out all the features. Whoa! Nice eh? It's got lotsa holes for water cooling with a 1/4" hose system.

Haiya the Shark mod is sorta like my trademark mod mar. Sure boring lar. U c McDonald's everyday oso boring right? But u still go in n eat oso wat.




Ya lar. Very stressful coz I spend hours just on the planning, masking, measuring n marking even b4 I switch on any of the power tools. The most important part is the precision of the measurements n markings. When all that is off, even laser cutter oso no use.

Uncle, can show me the electrical saw bit in ur next update?
What are the measurings of the bit, i mean what should we ask for when we go buy the bit.
And if we use the saw on a rather thin metal, will the effect look bad.
I'm using an old Enlight steel casing, thinking of adding some bling to it.

Wokeh! Just came home from week long vacation. Noticed a lot of spam while I was checking up while sipping pina coladas by the beach. Didn't clean up much coz GPRS access costs a bomb. I'm back now so NO MORE SPAM! Updates will b up 2moro. 2night i go tidur 1st.

Wokeh. Just edited the pix. Here come the updates on Red Hot Chilli.


After cutting the side window I moved on to the top blowhole.
Top panel, masked up, marked n ready for chopping.

After cutting the blowhole I removed it from the case. Here's the rivets being removed.

I then proceeded to remove the bottom panel too. It has to b removed so I can paint it. Here's the case without all external panels. Naked Chilli.

Phew, what a hectic week it's been with xmas shopping n the celebrations n all that. Anyway, got down to editing the pix n here we are with more updatesss..............

After stripping the main chassis, I moved on to stripping the front panel. Y is it always lidat.......... the cases that come in for full paintjobs haf the most complicated fron panels that need plenty of dismantling. So many parts n screws to remove on this panel. Here we go with the dismantling.

Stock panel. Note the original Shark logo still there at the top. Also can c the Thermaltake round logo at the bottom. Later u'll understand y I asked u guys to take not of the logos now. Hehehe.














Done. The front panel is totally dismantled.









These r the aluminum ribs that hold the shark gill together at the bottom of the front panel. It's a matt look kinda finish.










Here it is now after sum polishing. I've polished it to a mirror shine so that it shines nicely n hilites the gill area coz the gill area on the front is gonna b all black.

After totally dismantling everything I moved on to painting. I didn't take any pix while painting coz it's the paint room is full of paint fumes n paint dust. I dowanna damage my camera with all that stuff in the room so I jsut took a pix after all the painting is done.


Here it is. All panels painted with 8 layers of paint.











Here's a pic of the side panel after sanding. Then I whipped out the machine for a good proper mirror shine. I wasn't happy with the shine I obtained with this panel n also the window panel though. So after this pic was taken, I washed n degreased it. Resprayed another 3 layers of paint. I'm still waiting for these panels' paint to harden while I do the rest of the case.









The top, bottom n front panels haf been nicely polished to a mirror shine. Now it's on to the assembly of the main chassis.

Nice shiny aluminum interior man. Y wanna paint over sumthin that's so bling bling? Usually I paint interior is for cheap metal cases with the ugly grey paint inside. Then I will repaint to matt black. But alu cases all leave the interior alu is nicer.

hehe. I compared it to my Ferrari laptop n u know what? It's the same exact shade of red. In fact my painting n polishing has made it even more glossy than my Ferrari laptop.

More updatessssssssss. Today is rest day after xmas celebrations so no actual modding work done. Just editing n updating so here comes the flood of updatesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.



Rivetting rivetting rivetting. The main chassis is now complete.










Moving on to the front panel now. Installing back the front USB ports.








Hot glue gun to glue back the switches into position. I had to scrape away the original hot glue to pull the switches out for painting.









Gluing it with the hot glue gun.

eehhh! why the front panel look like dat, some are not red here & there? is it dusty? or are in grey transparent?

That's the back of the front panel lar. Original is also lidat 1. But original is silver paint overspray on the back. What u c now is the red color overspray on the back. Front part of panel lidat mati lor. Ppl will chop my head off.

i know already it's the back of the front panel, just corious why is it not fully red? are there 2 layer for it? cause looking it for the 1st time like there are 2 layer, 1 the panel itself & 1 for the transparent covering it... guess u explained it is oversprayed

I will explain about the worklog here though.
That back part where it has the paint overspray, it's sandwiched between the door n the chassis. It cannot be seen from the outside or even inside of the case. That's y even Thermaltake left it like that originally. U will understand when I post the next update.

OK here we go. I'll explain bout the back of the red front panel where it's black plastic.


Look here at this pic. C the aluminum panel at the front where the fan is? That covers the back where the black plastic is. So nothing on the back is visible.








Now look at the front. This is after I haf installed the front back onto the chassis.







So, the front b back is covered. That's y the paint is only on the front. The back is left as standard black plastic just as it came from the factory.

Check out that shineeeeeeeeeeeee on the mirror shine paint on the front door. BLING BLING!









ROM covers back on. The covers were originally silver. They've been painted matt black. That's dust on the ROM covers. Havent wiped them off yet. The whole case will b wiped down n waxed right at the end when everything is finished.









Now it's time to assemble the whole front panel with all the different pieces. The gloss black pieces haf all been mirror shine polished. The lower shark gill slats r in matt black.









1st piece back on the door.








Now it's on to the shark gills. the front door is almost complete now.

I think it would be nice if you add a touch of carbon fibre sticker to the casing.

Anyway, the casing is already sexy enough with the flaming hot colour. Damn, makes me wanna send my case for modding also.

Now I've just made sum custom cut chrome stickers. They're on the floor in front of the panel.










Here we goooooooooooooooo. The panel with new chrome logos. More bling bling!









Well, that's all folks. Project Red Hot is up to that stage right now. I mentioned about being unhappy with the gloss on the 2 side panels earlier remember? Well, the paint is now totally dry n hardened after waiting for a week. I'm currently polishing the 2 side panels. Will update again once I've polished the 2 side panels.

Oooooooops. I forgot about Red Hot Chilli's power supply. Hehehe. It's a brand new Coolermaster 550W.










Gonna sleeve it UV blue.







Here's the tool I use. I absolutely love this Sunbeam PSU tool kit. Without it, I'll just cry while sleeving.







Done. The PSU is totally UV bluw wiring now.







Next update will be on the side panels.

Oh I forgot to mention the hardware that's going into Red Hot Chilli. It's gonna b pretty 1337.

Just a short list of the stuff going into Red Hot:-
Asus Crosshair motherboard, AMD X2 5000+, Nvidia 8800GTS. Nice loooooooovely gaming rig this is gonna b.
