In my opinion if Ronaldo leaves United are royally screwed, the man carried the team this season and was the big difference between United and the other title challenging sides. If you fail to see that than you clearly have a problem. Of course United will replace him but believe me, you will never find another winger who scores as freely as he does. Players like him don't come about everyday. He was involved in 78% of United's goals this season I read somewhere.
Having said that, I think he will stay and give United fans heart ache again next summer....
He was not involved in that much of the goals scored. In fact he scored a lot, but he assist less this season. Having said that, I think he will stay and give United fans heart ache again next summer....
No players are bigger than the club. If he leave, I am sure we will come out with a good replacement. We have done that with Yorke, Cole, RVN and now, should Ronaldo leave, I am sure SAF will get a proven striker again.
I would like to see goal scoring burden shared among players, jz like how they cope when RVN departed to Real Madrid. Everyone score goals and this is what they need to do in order to win games. I agree that Man Utd is a little dependent on Ronaldo in scoring goals, but lets not forget this season, Manchester United do not have an out-to-out striker like Santa, RVN, Torres (we have one in Saha, but he is out due to injury). Hence, Ronaldo was given more freedom to push to the centre due to his build, aerial ability and pace, with Rooney or Tevez dropping a little back to wing. And if you have notice, Rooney spend most of the time playing on wing during the second half of the season. Hence, this explains, why he is able to score so much yet his role should be a winger. But I cannot deny that, this lad seriously have an eye on the goal.
Should Manchester United get a new striker this season, I am pretty sure that Ronaldo's roaming freedom will be limited back to the wings with Rooney and Tevez playing the forward role, supporting the striker. And, its time to end the domination of Ronaldo in terms of goal scored, which I hope Rooney, Tevez and the new striker will take over that role and scores more often.
Afterall, its SAF promise to develop Rooney to a fearsome forward again this season.
