Hi,

I am looking for a place to get complete body composition analysis especially body fat % for free. The machine type where one has to stand on the scales and hold something and then ultimately get a printed result for body fat, muscle mass, bone mass etc.

Does anyone know where I can get it done for free? Need it to monitor my progress especially reducing body fat.  icon_question.gif

I have a electronic weighing scale at home, supposedly able to monitor body fat %, , but I find it highly inaccurate. cry.gif  rclxub.gif

The other question is that what measures should one take to ensure that the body fat percentage calculated by those machines is accurate? Is it true that one should not drink water or eat at least 4 hours before measuring to get accurate results? Some people say that these factors can change the accuracy of the measurements.

Please enlighten me.

Thank you in advance. notworthy.gif

Usually only those big fitness centres will have the high end machines to test ( not the cheap weight scale). You can try have a thick face and just go in and ask for a measurement.

If I'm planning to have the test to be as accurate as possible, I will go on keto level diet for at least 5 days (to technically deplete the muscle of glycogen) and perform the test on the 6th day with last meal at least 12 hours before the test. Mind you since it uses electricity to measure, the lesser the interference the better.

Can you see your abs?, if you can't see your abs, I'd suggest you don't bother to check since its guaranteed you're on the high teens, or maybe more.

Hey thanks for your reply.

I know those big fitness centres have the machine, but I really don't like to go since the membership consultants will go on and on with their sales talk. So, I thought maybe that there are other places which does it, for free. Maybe I have to be thick face and go.

Incidentally, I am on keto diet for past few weeks. Also, as I mentioned, I want to track progress (maybe once a month or so) of the reduction of my BF% since I am on this diet, since I need to alter my macros when my weight ie fat comes down.

You mentioned that one should have last meal at least 12 hours before the test. What about water intake? Does it matter?

If you've been on keto diet and have been doing it properly as in carbs below 30 grams per day, I wouldnt worry about water intake since your body won't hold onto the water as much as it would if you're on normal diet.

I tend to do the test first thing in the morning. Probably just have a glass of water (or preworkout) before doing the test.

Mind you this is what I do. You can perhaps standardize the check and do it at the same specific timing for example, empty stomach or after taken the last piss.
