Hi All,

Wonder if anyone order from bricklink before? I found some items are cheap if ship from South Africa, but after adding the postage fee which is more pricey than the items itself, I feel llike it's not worth it...

Do you guys buy from Bricklink or prefer to go to local stores like mighty utan, etc?

I have purchased from Bricklink before and its all up to you to hunt for it. Purchasing from Europe is more reasonable as connectivity is good between Europe and Asia. US is the worst as the items are cheap but the delivery is as you said, almost the same as the item itself. good luck hunting.

Hi All,

Am an avid fan of Lego since young (which is like more than 20 years ago). Not a collector due to financial constraints and the fact that my parents call them "rubbish". Thus growing up and buying lego is equivalent to a thief (have to sneakily sneak in the lego in order to avoid questions and judgmental stares).

Got a few older sets like the old Castle series, City, Space, etc but all was lost during the time where we have to move our house (if I'm not mistaken, all got thrown away as rubbish).

Now that I'm older and earning my own money, I get to buy Lego again! So far the sets that I have are the mining truck (i love lego City construction, but so far only got one), cars, star wars, technic (motorcycles are my favourite and I think they give you the bang for buck feel).

that's my humble introduction. Looking forward to get to know how many Lego-ers are there here in LYN.

Hey there, glad you are collecting Legos again. Legos are not rubbish, it's not rubbish in the past, not in the present and not in the future.

I had a similar story where I was forced to shelf off my Lego collection at the age of 8 because they feared I couldn't study and I wasn't allow to even play it for a very long time. I started purchasing them again when I was 24.

Last week I was reconstructing one of my very old Lego set - and my father saw that thing and he said "Kids should be playing more Legos, it's good for them!"
Their perception has been already changed because they are more exposed compared to last time.
*
It's quite sad thinking about it. I think a lot of Chinese can relate when your parents complain and say - you buy "lapsap" again?!

It's good to be back. By the way, does anyone of you know where can I get my hands on this?

user posted image

I saw that if you buy RM600 worth of Lego in Lego shop (IOI City Mall), you'll get 3 things, the C3PO, this TIE fighter and a StormTrooper.

Trying to see if any LYNers here got extra set and want to sell, do contact me!

Another question to all:

Do you guys scalp? Eg: Buy as much Lego Shell as possible, and then sell it at 100% to 200% increase just to make some money out of it? Reason I'm asking this is because I think that if you love Lego, you will not make so much of a profit out of it, because at your core, you want to share your love for Lego.

They want kids to hit the books - and enjoy them. Books, I mean revision books and stuff like that.

What scarred me is my ma forced me to put my collection into a box and she repeatedly said "stop playing them, you have grown, and studying is good".

I hadn't got any much chance to play the Legos after the age of 8. Most of it being torn out by loaning to younger cousins and the excuse "you are too old to play them, so loan them!".

Luckily I managed to repair three of them last week!

That's great news!

You're most welcome! Enjoy biggrin.gif

I think now that the Lego Shell sets are gaining traction, we should go pump petrol on Sunday itself rather than wait. Pumping on Monday might be too late especially on larger Shell stations.
*
Yups, I usually pump on Sunday. Last Sunday itself the petrol station operator was mentioning that the stock is low (on Sunday itself) because a lot of people are buying it.

Thanks! The sad part is, I have another 8-10 more to repair! Luckily bricklink is to the rescue! smile.gif

Here's another picture of a 1990/1991 Turboprop my pa bought for me, and fixed that too! One of the front landing gear wheel went missing, so the plane is a bit tilted to the front. smile.gif

I like the UCS tumbler, and wanted to get it. Too bad it cannot be transformed (or pulled out) into a motorbike biggrin.gif

If they can do it, it's already in my house now biggrin.gif

Bro, if you don't mind me asking - where do you get this from? Eg: not from Malaysia I assume, due to the heavy plastic wrapping. biggrin.gif

Great collection you have there. Don't talk about UCS, just collecting the "normal" Star Wars collection is already crazy enough biggrin.gif yours is UCS... straight away eye-gasm.

Hi Terence,

Thanks for the kind comments. Most of these were bought from my travels overseas - Hong Kong, Singapore, UK, Australia & USA. Hardly any from Malaysia. The wrapping is my wife's idea - it would otherwise collect a lot of dust, according to her. I don't argue with Her Majesty. Hahah.

Great advice. hahaha biggrin.gif

Officially, I've been banned by wifey on any new Lego sets.

Officially....

Shhhhhhhh....
*
Or you can Jedi mind trick your wife "join the Dark side".

My wife didn't ban, but I ukur baju sendiri (one gaji for whole family - only one wife and 2 kids) thus I have missed out a lot.

Guess I have no choice but to miss the whole Speed Champions set as well as General Grevious buildavle character (4 lightsabers. Droolssssss)

You are a prudent man. That's good. I was a lot erm, careless - I collected Transformers Masterpieces, Tamiya, Dragon and resin model tank kits, Hasegawa plane kits in addition to Lego Technic, Star Wars and City/Trains sets. But my most damaging collection has to be my 4 BMWs - just wife and me, no kids, but 4 cars (since then, sold the severely underutilized F30 3 series - but kept my F02 7 series, F13 6 series and the F15 X5). She flat banned me from ever buying anything else after that.
*
My weakness is I can't control myself if I have the financial power bro (learned a lesson where I bought a guitar, payed the deposit but couldn't pay for the rest due to wrong calculations).

Thus after I got married, I let her be the finance dept. LOL. Thus when I asked for her permission to get the Lego that I want, when she says okay, within budget, then I'm a happy man biggrin.gif

You are quite the collector there. 4 BMWs!

PSA: Shell Tmn Equine and Shell Seri Kembangan (sandwich between Petron and Petronas) don't have stock for the yellow car (512 S). This happens yesterday around 2PM.

I have to go to Dengkil Shell only got. Still got a lot.

Colleague went to Shell before Sg Besi Tol at KL-Seremban highway (the one next to hotel), still got a lot of yellow car. He saw they have 5-6 packs of F12 (red fat car) but they say not for sale - not sure why it's there? They will start selling the case by 1st Dec.

I hope I'm able to get one of the case. Just.need.one.

I pity those that have kids that wanted the set. Seriously. If they have rules and not all are following, why not sell all at one go on the first day itself right?

Went to hunt yesterday for the casing. 7pm that time the attendant ask me to come back by 12am. I came back at 12am but they changed shift.

Guess what? The old uncle said sold out. I challenged him and said just now your colleague say got stock? He got a shock and showed me his black face. He brushed me off by saying sold out.

Sad. I wish him well as God is watching.
