Getting back into LEGO now, bought loose pieces for my daughter yesterday and I saw some pretty amazing sets at the place. Now I gotta start getting those so we can work on it together. The Kwik E Mart, Queen Anne's Revenge and the Pirates Imperial Flagship, Metal Beard's Sea Cow look pretty impressive.

Any recommendation for the best stores to get themed sets from?

The sets you want unfortunately are not easily obtainable in local shop. Kwik e mart has though in the Lego certified shops (bangsar village, curve, setia city mall, empire). It's at RM999.90 if I'm not wrong.

Sea cow on the other hand is harder to spot and depends on luck. And like ilfort mentioned, price are starting to go crazy too for this set. But I have to say this ship is nice though the build process is a little boring (all brown parts).

Oh and a little bird told me the shell next to dewan pustaka might have a restock for tanker later at 3pm.

Yep, been going over the prices recently and I've seen it skyrocket. Kwik E Mart/Simpsons House still around but at that RM950+ pricing. The others are harder to get locally, probably have to try to bricklink it or get it from Amazon. Ebay has some decent prices too, but the shipping kills the price in the end.

With the exchange rate now its really not worth importing in. Need to take into consideration the custom tax also. But yea I would still say give imperial flagship and queen Anne's a miss.

That's some solid advice, probably wait till later (forever) once the currency drops to where it should be, instead just try to grab whatever that comes out first before it has a chance to go higher.

you can do crazy stuff like get the list of the parts involve and purchase the parts. i got some of my sets cheaper like this.
*
Yeah, I've seen a few that have done that. Lots of effort though to track for the parts, bricklink will be great for that! Also with the instructions readily available on the net, not so hard to figure out what's needed.

Has anyone seen the Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ sets in any LCS locations? I called a few places and it seems to be sold out. Was wondering if it would be cheaper to bring it back from my trip to the US in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the input guys. Not a box collector so flattening or even throwing the box away is not an issue. Hopefully be able to grab a few other sets while I'm there. If want the box later just grab it from bricklink or something.

Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ is a Lego store exclusive, so only they have it atm. So gotta wait for a restock or something from our LCS. I called a few Lego stores in the US and they have tons of stock.

Here, guess the scalpers got to it first.

Ya, people buy boxes that's why it's available on brick link. But might be hard to bring it back unless I carry a damned big suitcase. Haha

If I'm not mistaken, I think I saw Slave I at LCS Curve a few days ago. It was hidden behind the Sandcrawler.

So does anyone here actually play with their lego, or do most of you just collect and keep it in storage?

From what I read, it says 1 monkey per customer regardless of the bills. So take more people and split the buys if you want more than 1.
