But right now, most of the tickets are sold out. Any other bus provider that I can book online? Or I just have to go to Golden Mile Complex to book one?
*
Try busonlineticket.com (you can book tickets from most bus companies here, except for aeroline and first coach) and busticketonline.com (starmart bus website, they always have buses even during peak holidays, although their service can range from decent to terrible. Would only take them if I had no other better options)

Don't need any deposit for prepaid. Just your passport.

Anyway, you should receive the EP card around 3-4 working days after thumbprint.

Another point to consider perhaps is that with only SGD 4.5K salary, @creammilk would not be able to bring his wife with him as the minimum salary to bring dependants is SGD5k. Of course this is a moot point if his wife manages to get a job in SG which would put her on employment pass instead of dependent pass.

I am going to start working in sg, looking for accommodation now.

If I will be going back to KL during weekend, should I stay somewhere near to Changi e.g. tampines, simei... ? So friday night I could reach airport asap.
My office is located somewhere around commonwealth, thus definitely staying in queenstown, boon lay, jurong area will be nearer. In a dilemma now.

How's the life in Boon lay/jurong etc area compare to Tampines/Simei there? In terms of food/environment/community.
My budget is 1k, should be sufficient to look for a room in those area.

It's better to stay near work so that your commute to work every day is short. Like others mentioned, you only go to changi once a week while you go to work 5x a week.

For my case, I stay near work. When I travel on Friday night, I will just walk home, grab my bags and walk to the green line MRT to go to changi. Most of my colleagues that stay far from office would just bring their bags to office then rush off to the airport/bus station after work.

QUOTE(devabby @ Apr 14 2016, 06:27 AM)
i started worked at september 1 2015, and resign at december 2015. And i didn't not continue work at 2016.
and i already left job and return home.

I read the iras website, it state that employer should files tax clearance ir21 after employee notice them that employee would like to resign.

My situation is like this, i submit my resignation letter to my ex-employer at 30.11.2015 and my employer directly told me they dont want me to work extra 1 month(notice period). Around few week ago, i received ir8a form from my employer for my tax submission so i email iras about whether i have to pay income tax and how to pay. The iras told me my employer failed to submit ir21 form, now require me to pay tax clearance.

May i know is tax clearance is different from tax income?

user posted image
and my ex-employer filed the ir8a form section "Employee income tax borne by employer " like this. Am i still pay my income tax/clearance tax myself?

Anyone can help me icon_question.gif  , i try talk to iras via email, but the representation keep circling my question...
*
Tax clearance is when you leave the country and want to close your tax file. It's the same thing as income tax basically, you still need to pay your taxes owed for when you worked in Singapore.

You said your employer forgot to file IR21 for you. Did they deduct your salary for tax as well? Did you stop work at 30 Nov or 31 Dec? Your employer hr could have been confused over the correct procedure.

Anyway, since your employer did not file IR21, you will need to do your own tax clearance. Please set aside 15% of your entire 3 month salary (including allowances, bonus, etc) to pay the tax.

You are lucky BTW, because this year onwards the tax rate is 22% biggrin.gif

guys do you clear your tax before leaving malaysia to work in singapore? my company says i have to have form cp21 which will be prepared by the company im leaving (malaysia) and settle my taxes before i can leave to work in another country.

can anyone confirm
*
Your company is right. They'll issue you the cp21 and withhold your last salary. You have to send the cp21 to LHDN, file your last tax return (Jan 2016 until whichever date you stop working in msia), obtain a tax clearance letter, send a copy of that too your company. Then your company will release your last salary.

With the tax clearance letter, you will not need to file Malaysia income tax until you go back to work in msia again.

Just go and buy insurance. Your CPF would subsidise part of the insurance premium and it's not even that expensive (was quoted $800 a year for hospitalisation insurance).

Even in Malaysia, you should buy insurance anyway unless you don't mind being on waiting lists for surgeries at government hospitals. With insurance, you can opt for private hospitals if you want to.

I have an all-in-one insurance from company but thinking of getting myself a critical diseases insurance, so buy in malaysia or sg, which is a better option?
*
I find that company insurance isn't that good (mine only covers for hospital claims up to 3k, doesn't cover any extras etc).

If you're interested in discussing insurance, PM me.

Apply for your PR. At the moment based on what I heard, it takes more than 6 months to approve. While waiting for the status, find yourself a new job. Then notify them on the change in job.

Being on low pay with a small company is not going to help your application. If not wrong, the size of your firm and your salary are one of the factors that can affect whether your pr is approved.

Is your fiancee a pr already? If you're planning to apply first (instead of applying together) then get her a spouse pr, it may take a few years more as I heard ICA may reject applications from newly married spouse.

I thought of it also... but can you actually change job in the midst of waiting for approval?

This is because there is one page of the PR application form that requires the company to disclose some sensitive information / financial information.

So you sure can change job while waiting for approval?

My fiancee is working in Singapore under S pass. We plan to apply together this year.

No I am still taking my ACCA papers. My stingy boss dont even give exam or study leave. LOL audit firm pulak.

If you're in a mid-tier or big 4 audit firm, you would have gotten the exam leave. On pay issues, small audit firms are not generally known to pay as well as the big 4. Even in the big 4, the salary increase is mostly from promotion and not increment.

If you go to commercial firms, you will encounter the same issue with low increments every year. This is why most accounting grads choose to go into audit at a big 4, climb the ranks fast, then get out at manager level to go into commercial.

If you're that desperate to get out of your current job, try to get into the big 4 to get the name on your resume, then leave after a year or two. The pay should be comparable or higher than what you're getting now, and with the brand name it would be easier to get a job.

1. Ok. Thank you. I checked the cp21 and there is a space for correspondence address outside Malaysia. What address did you guys put last time? If we haven't got a place yet, what address do you put? I definitely prefer them to mail it to my current address in Msia because there is still my family member who can receive it for me, rather than mail it outside country.

Please advise. Thanks.

Your company is supposed to prepare this letter. Not you. Please request HR to issue the CP21. Put your local address by all means.

2. O-yes, how long did the IRB take to give you the refund and tax clearance letter?

can't remember when the refund was given. But the tax clearance letter may take 2-4 weeks or more, depending if they request for an audit.

3. If did not obtain the tax clearance letter, do you guys still file your tax returns annually by declaring nil income?

if no cp21 was submitted, you can continue to file nil tax return, although your company is liable for a fine since it's their obligation to withhold your salary and make sure you file the cp21.

If cp21 has been submitted, the IRB will definitely give you a tax clearance letter. Whether or not this letter is issued fast or slow depends on whether there is an audit or dispute.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and i would like to ask the tax consultants who are currently working in Big 4 Singapore or mid-tier firms like RSM / BDO. May i know what would be the salary range for a tax manager in Big 4 Singapore as well as in mid-tier firms? From what i heard it is in the range of SGD 7,000 - 8,000, is it true?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Copied from another forum the salary range for S3/M1 in big 4:

In actuality i heard the scale is lower by a few hundred and mid tier would definitely pay much less so don't expect too much @_@
