It is so hard to find a job in Singapore nowadays. So many applications, no positive response so far. Sigh.

I am in IT field, took me 1 year to find an acceptable offer.

I'm in HR, so I guess that's even harder for me, not in professional or technical field. Plus I'm still working in Malaysia, not a PR nor having any type of working permit. Sigh.

Haha, I know it's not easy. Easy or hard, I still wanna go there. Just feeling a bit deflated that's all. Sorry.

HR is not easy at all, unless you have skills which others don't have. I'm also from HR and with 7 years experience in this field, still cannot get what I wanted. I should have gone there few years ago and not now...

Well, I will keep trying but I do have regional experience because my current role is a regional role and I'm supporting different countries. I used to support Singapore for a short term, now back to Malaysia + Philippines.

My boss is trying to transfer me to SG but at the same time I am also applying whenever I found any interesting position.

I have 12 years of HR generalist experience but unfortunately it's all local. I feel you have brighter chance to secure a position in SG since you have regional experience. All the best in your job hunting. Wish you will get the interesting position you want! smile.gif

Nowadays?
Did you try in the old days and get lots of positive responses?

I guess I should have said it's hard to find a job in Singapore. Unless I have the skills set they need that the locals can't offer, I will never find any job there.

True i guess, but that's to be expected
It's the way it is in MY too, for foreigners

Maybe anyone who's working in HR in SG can shed some light on what they are looking for when they are hiring foreigners for HR positions. That would be much appreciated so that I can work on improving myself to be more marketable in SG job market. biggrin.gif

in blue, spot-on, there is one skill that locals can't offer >>>non-kiasu/kiasi, like me when I first step my foot here, I came with a mind set that I have got NOTHING TO LOSE ANYWAY

this is a skill that you can put to good use.

if one starts to compare too much with his/her current comfort zone, then  bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif no venture u ll never know for the good or/ bad:thumbsup:

I have nothing to lose too. I even lower my salary expectation to the point where the company will have nothing to lose too if they were to hire me. Too bad, like what XiuKeong has stated, most companies are looking for Singaporeans/PR only. I guess that's more prevalent for HR positions.

need to sabra la

in blue, its MOM requirement now, vacancy need to lock in job-bank for a set period, open to only sin/pr only. employer need to prove singaporen core assessment before can hire others
*
Haha, I know. It's the same procedure in MY. Need to advertise in JobsMalaysia for locals first, report on locals:foreigners ratio, then apply to hire foreigners and wait for approval. If able to hire locals, most employers will choose not to go through this hassle.

QUOTE(rookie93 @ Apr 13 2016, 04:04 PM)
so whatever advertised in jobstreet or other portals means they have gone through job-bank and there were no local candidates applying then only they can open to foreign applicants?
*
Yes, you try and search the job titles you have applied at MOM jobs bank. Most probably they will advertise all those jobs there too. If no Singaporean/PR applied, maybe the company will apply for quota to hire foreigners.
