I am drawing RM7.6K gross in msia as a senior exec, got an offer in SG for SGD 4.1k as a consultant.

Do not consider landed house & car, is this a downgrade for my life? I don't go luxury food, clubbing..etc. Just average console gamer, occasionally buy some Lego, go oversea travelling with my wife once a year (mostly Asia/Australia region)...

Just would like to get some general idea.

somehow my company in SG alot pinoy working, if the salary in philipines are that good, wonder why did they come SG for work
i would think the salary in SG 4.1k is a downgrade for you, maybe you can nego more
car and landed house in sg are not essential. MRT everywhere and HDB flat everywhere.

problem is will u willing to leave your family/wife to come SG and work.

edit: just IMHO
*
Indeed 4.1k sgd seems low to me.

Downgrade.
Dont do it unless ur really despo to get out.

Indeed I am eager to move out from Msia with my wife, not easy to msia to get an offer in SG if you demand high pay, they would rather go for local if they can afford.

QUOTE(Fat & Fluffy @ Feb 26 2016, 11:21 AM)
what a cheapskate company... ask them to fly kite
*
I think that's the reason they look for malaysian, will try to nego a bit see can press higher or not.

is your wife going to work as well? how bout the future? going to build a family here in SG?
*
Yeap, my wife will follow me to work here as well. She has her own profession in medical line which is very easy for her to secure a job.
At least stay here for 2 years, if we like it here of course stay here permanently and eventually build our family here.
Else just go back to boleh land if still has chance to go back biggrin.gif

ok. seems like a good plan.
the salary definitely need to be higher. at least be more than 5-6k sgd imho
can i know how old are you? how many years of working exp u have in ur line?  rolleyes.gif
*
I have 8 yrs of experience, 30 yrs old+
I might sound a bit desperate, but I have been searching for an offer for almost 1 year+
None of them offer more than SGD4.5k.

There was once I almost took the offer, the HR also a malaysia, he told me they will go for local to save all the hassle (paper work, permit, worry you can't survive in sg...etc) if they willing to pay higher package, no point to look for malaysian. Unless that person is extraordinary, very talented.
But at the end I still reject the offer because that' what I thought, too low and no extra allowance.

Now another half a year, I am still getting the same range of offer, with some allowance, and this is the job scope that I kinda prefer, hence I am quite tempted now.

I am going to start working in sg, looking for accommodation now.

If I will be going back to KL during weekend, should I stay somewhere near to Changi e.g. tampines, simei... ? So friday night I could reach airport asap.
My office is located somewhere around commonwealth, thus definitely staying in queenstown, boon lay, jurong area will be nearer. In a dilemma now.

How's the life in Boon lay/jurong etc area compare to Tampines/Simei there? In terms of food/environment/community.
My budget is 1k, should be sufficient to look for a room in those area.

Thanks for all the advise~~ Agree that I should stay nearer to office, as travel back to KL won't be long term, just temporary until my wife move over to sg too.
Just that somewhere further from central could get nicer master room or even whole unit with less than 2k rental biggrin.gif
I think i should travel down to SG and feel it myself before I decide.

evios if wanna do the clean/proper way, get your company to issue a borang CP21. Then take it to LHDN and do the tax clearance / close your tax file.

If wanna do the lazy way then just don't do anything. Next year March/April do your malaysia tax efiling to claim back all the overpaid tax you paid this year. (Note: be prepared to kena audit).

For malaysian working abroad also need to do tax clearance (proper way)? I thought that's for expatriate sad.gif
I want to do proper way, but at the same time I am so lazy blush.gif

May I know what is the best way (convenient and relatively low fee) to "transfer" your sgd into Malaysia Maybank account? Could I deposit sgd into my Malaysia maybank account at SG maybank deposit machine?

I check on DBS website, they do offer a type of multi-currency saving account, but not sure how do i deposit the money into my malaysia maybank saving account.

I stay in the region you wanted. Used propertyguru to find my room, and I think you can get better offer (and also better service) through agents - IMHO landlords not willing to pay for agent fees are more likely to look quite heavily on money but that's not absolute. Sms/ whatsapp agents and those wanna do business will come back to you.

Not sure about boon lay vs jurong east. I chose the former simply because 1) JE more roads so even buildings appear close are actually quite far to walk with 2) JE population density too high for me 3) BL seems cheaper?

What's your budget/requirements btw? Or you want me to pm you my agent details (just rented 2months ago)?
*
how much agent fee he charge? half month? thanks
