Yes. Bought 0 to 49 in a ticket for 50 dollar. Then kiasu. Buy another ticket with the same number. So total 100 sgd. Yield is 139000% in a night. Good deal it is.

Banking and finance is a super broad field eh. Diff departments and roles have different barriers to entry and competition levels.

Anyway you can PM your CV summary to our MD banker Fiona Chin for an assessment of how attractive (or not) your profile is.

Just whack every email hr@nameofbank.com.sg you can find. Got kill wrong no let go.

Dont mean to troll and no intention to troll. I always feel that the competition to secure a job is hard and even harder if you want to get promoted in sg. You have to compete with the sg citizens. Correct me if im wrong. Today my friend called me to update me on hows life working in philipines. I am flabbergasted until she told me that no degree or cert holders in her company which was added advantage to her over there considering her experience in malaysia although she has no certs as well. I mean it may sound pretty easy to get promoted over there. The pay is good too in usd. But why do people choose sg over other neighbouring countries ?
*
Personal choice? Your friend like balut. People here like their chili crab. Do what you think its right for you lo.

Either you accept the degree salary or just Fxxx off.....

If you accept, they will happy think using degree salary can hire master... lol

hmm.gif Thank for ur advice, to my understanding, Singapore Bar Council now does not really recognise UK Bar, so I wonder if the partner u knew in Baker & McKenzie SG is a Singaporean and he practised back in few years?

If yes to both of the questions, I can understand why the firm would want to take him.

Anyone else please help me out bangwall.gif
*
Its possible, my SIL admitted to bar after she came back from UK but not directly. Need to gain some practical experience and sit for some tests. Go take a look at Ministry of Law the requirements are stated there.

I see, I am fully aware of the requirements in order to be admitted to Singapore Bar.

May I know was she just came back recently or few years back?

To my understanding, the requirements are strictly implemented only in last year.

Thank for sharing it =D

Few years ago, then now become full time house wife. Last time was strict. Think they open up recently.

QUOTE(HybridInvestor @ Mar 19 2016, 03:04 PM)
The below figures only include tax-payers, so those not working and earning below 20k p.a. are not included.

If your annual income is more than 52,900, you are in the 50th percentile (median).
A $150k per-annum income will place you at the 88.3th percentile.
If you make more than $91,200, you are in the top quartile (i.e. top 25%) of all resident taxpayers.
To be among the top 10% earners, you need an annual income of $170,000 or more.
To be at the 95th percentile (i.e. top 5%), you need to make at least $264,000 a year.
As usual, please note that residents earning $20k and below do not pay tax. Hence they are not included in the above comparison.
*
How do they even afford a 10 mil landed housing with only 250k per annum?

Flying home is a pain though, leave opis at 5 on Friday, and when sampai rumah also close to 11 no thanks to KLIA being super far from KL and my place not being anywhere near train stations. I suspect taking a bus might be cheaper and take just about as long. Mana and how to take a bus back to KL ar, sifus here?

How much does it cost to own a car? Or can I transfer my Malaysia car into SG ar? I've got a parking spot so if it isn't too expensive having a car to drive back up and down again on the weekends might be viable.  hmm.gif
PS. Work is sadly, rather heavier than in KL. I miss my old team. really.
*
Nego a time off in lieu with your company so you can leave early on Friday. Just go to office earlier or stay back for few hours. Saw people dropping off the bus before it reach KL center. Just find out the route and you can plan where to drop off. KLIA is so inconvenient.

Cheapest car around 100k now? Roughly 1k per month for petrol and stuff. Custom should be crowded in the weekends, more tiring than taking the flight.

I am going to start working in sg, looking for accommodation now.

If I will be going back to KL during weekend, should I stay somewhere near to Changi e.g. tampines, simei... ? So friday night I could reach airport asap.
My office is located somewhere around commonwealth, thus definitely staying in queenstown, boon lay, jurong area will be nearer. In a dilemma now.

How's the life in Boon lay/jurong etc area compare to Tampines/Simei there? In terms of food/environment/community.
My budget is 1k, should be sufficient to look for a room in those area.
*
Stay nearer to office. Changi just 2 times a week affair. Unless you fly in SG late night and miss the MRT you will be fine staying either place. Going back weekly you won't be packing anything else except a backpack or a hand bag.

Hmm I'm not sure if I get what you mean there.. Well I chose banking because I'm actually interested in their career progression as told by my relative who is also working in a bank. He told me that the bank actually provide development and training programmes for him. Not only that, he also mentioned on internal transferring to different job functions is also possible so that you have more exposure in the bank.. hmm.gif

QUOTE(Dilemmaz @ May 6 2016, 11:33 AM)
Now the issue is applying for a PR in Singapore under my current company. My boss put a clause in my contract stating that if I apply PR under this company, upon approval, I would have to serve the company for 3 years. I am in a rush to apply PR because I want to start a family with my wife to be and quickly buy a HDB to settle down. The new PRs are said to need to wait for 3 years before buying a HDB.

Problem is I think I am not too happy working under my boss which I think is very calculative and kiamsiap(stingy).

I am earning 2.7k per month now. I am 27 years old. The yearly increment is only 100 dollars. Normal bonus one month only. I feel like I am going nowhere with this.
Furthermore, my company has no benefits at all. I only have 10 days of annual leave per year.
Work is very stressful. Boss doesnt appreciates even old staffs. Colleagues are nice and friendly?

I tried applying jobs from jobstreet for the past 6 months. I sent so many out until jobstreet gave me a warning. There are no replies from any of them. I start to wonder if its because I am not a PR? or something wrong with my resume.

I want to know if I am underpaid for my field. I feel very low compared to my other friends as they got promoted in their jobs, get big fat bonuses, so many annual leaves.

Should I apply PR in this company and serve the 3 years? or should I postpone my plans and find another job and apply in other company? I am already 27 and I feel like I am going nowhere. No house, low pay, and etc.

What should i do?
*
The form is just to say you working there and should not be used as a leverage for the company to negotiate any terms with you by signing the form. I think you can submit without the form too if your boss don't want to sign. You pay tax? Your company registered with ACRA? Your employment and company info already inside SG database. ICA only need to click then can access.

Your boss CA? Threaten to complain to ISCA, so unprofessional, and police too. SG want better people come in and this kind of people is hampering gahmen's effort to attract talent.

QUOTE(Blackdawn @ May 11 2016, 03:23 PM)
because it may sounds reasonable, but actually not quite the truth.
No one with sane mind would ever think a concrete jungle like Singapore is a good place for retirement, for what?
- You can't own a vintage car that you like and drive around happily because you will need to return the car after 10 years.
- You have very limited proper natural park that you can go walk to get real fresh air
- You can hardly own a landed house of your own because of the high price, losing out the privileges of having "space".

The cons i can think of retirement in Malaysia, is only the security.
*
Just pay COE and do yearly checkup can maintain the car.

Go to bukit timah reserve for greenery.

Work harder. Its possible.

yeah, keep renewing the car sounds like a good option, but feasible to pay that amount of car on top of the maintenance needed for old car? It's not trying harder, it just sounds like trying to build an igloo in Malaysia.
*
If you think its hard then its hard lo. Sure got many Malaysians own bungalows here and there in SG leh.
