QUOTE(deodorant @ May 9 2016, 10:52 AM) hotpie73 I guess most Malaysians who apply PR don't bother translating their birth cert because most of the time ICA accepts our Malay language cert. Keyword being "most of the time," because I vaguely remember got once or twice in earlier versions of this thread that some ppl complained that their ICA agent didn't accept, and told them to go get translation. my senior manager didnt even submit his birth certificate during pr application, got his pr approved recently(2 month) btw, he is senior manager lah

QUOTE(kyone @ May 10 2016, 11:35 AM) How will it affects retirement if the person decided to come back malaysia for retirement? Most ppl by the time they get to that age will have greener pastures to go to. Besides, it seems to me most malaysians here think negatively of msia's future so retirement in malaysia is something people say but will never actually do. (My speculation and what i gather from my circle of friends). Also over time you wouldve become indoctrinated by singapores culture and mentality, so would not have faith in malaysias medical system to have the kind of peace of mind necessary for retirement. So please do convert. Taking singapore citizenship allows u all the benefits of this first world nation, and to thosr hoping to go further, a valuable stepping stone. And more medical support via medicare. And a government protected pension/redistribution scheme. Maybe ull get the silver age benefits too.

QUOTE(fruitie @ May 9 2016, 10:54 PM) CP21 is leaving country form. 1. Ok. Thank you. I checked the cp21 and there is a space for correspondence address outside Malaysia. What address did you guys put last time? If we haven't got a place yet, what address do you put? I definitely prefer them to mail it to my current address in Msia because there is still my family member who can receive it for me, rather than mail it outside country. Please advise. Thanks. 2. O-yes, how long did the IRB take to give you the refund and tax clearance letter? 3. If did not obtain the tax clearance letter, do you guys still file your tax returns annually by declaring nil income? This post has been edited by darrenboy: May 10 2016, 02:49 PM

I definitely prefer them to mail it to my current address in Msia because there is still my family member who can receive it for me, rather than mail it outside country. Please advise. Thanks. Your company is supposed to prepare this letter. Not you. Please request HR to issue the CP21. Put your local address by all means. 2. O-yes, how long did the IRB take to give you the refund and tax clearance letter? can't remember when the refund was given. But the tax clearance letter may take 2-4 weeks or more, depending if they request for an audit.3. If did not obtain the tax clearance letter, do you guys still file your tax returns annually by declaring nil income? if no cp21 was submitted, you can continue to file nil tax return, although your company is liable for a fine since it's their obligation to withhold your salary and make sure you file the cp21.
If cp21 has been submitted, the IRB will definitely give you a tax clearance letter. Whether or not this letter is issued fast or slow depends on whether there is an audit or dispute.

QUOTE(morgana_jara @ May 10 2016, 03:40 PM) thanks for your reply. I can put local address instead of overseas address? Ok, I shall suggest that to my HR. However I found out that she has not been issuing any CP21 to any of my former colleagues gone to Sgp to work. If IRB finds out, she may get into trouble. But I am worried about myself. What if she lazy to do for me? Then I will hv to file nil return every year. So "mar fan"!

Wondering if you guys here have any tips to maintain SG-PR if someone is going to work abroad with a foreign company for an extended period of time Also, would it be better to submit a Letter of Undertaking (LOU) stating that he or she will not leave Singapore permanently or for the current Singapore company to notify IRAS and to seek tax clearance?

Having said it's a contract position hence there's a possibility of renewal with better perks?
