hello guys, just wanna ask when i want to use my camera on my laptop ,it says that the camera cannot be used because it is being used by another apps. i try to disable from being used by another apps on the setting..but it doesnt works.i search on the you tube how to solve but they said we should start with imaging device on device manager....but i couldnt find it....should I install a webcam driver or it is because of something else.....someone plz help me.

im using dell inspiron 5548...

try reinstalling the driver again (full driver and the apps included) disable startup items for YM!, Skype or any other messaging apps. Try opening with buit in camera apps first eg. Windows Camera / Scanner but not using 3rd party apps eg. Skype

if it works well on Windows Camera / Scanner then configure to ure messaging application

i already install dell update and already update my drivers ,everything was okay but when i run diagnostic test on camera, it says
We are unable to find the selected device. The device driver for your selected diagnostic is either not installed or installed incorrectly. Please ensure your device is enabled through your device manager or go to Drivers and Downloads to install the latest driver....dunno what to do ...already reboot the computer but nothing change....hmmn

try remove (uninstall the camera) through device manager and reinstall, dont use latest windows updates

2 days ago i already uninstall the one on device manager> imaging device>uninstall webcam
then i couldnt find it anymore.....im just trying the method based on youtube...
so how?

why dont you right click on the computer top most top computer icon and use "scan for new hardware changes" it will scan for any changes

same result too cannot find imaging device.....hmmn

probably you have tried this but try again and again bcos it worked for me when I got the same proble as you

step 1
remove all drivers related to camera or imaging from the device manager

let it auto detect

you should get an ! mark or some error

make sure you got an internet connection

update the driver (right click then Search Automatically for ... that option) and let OS detect it online for you and download a driver certified for W10)

if these does not work you have to repeat step 1 - again cos you missed out something
and did not remove the 'stuck' wrong driver

let us know hows your progress.

There is one way that I know but you may not like this way it is to install windows 7 in the same laptop that you so that you dual booting with Windows 10

But this way is the only check if your camera hardware is working or not

After all originally your laptop came with Windows seven and camera was working right

then when you upgraded to Windows 10 the camera is not working so it may be a driver problem but then again we do not know it may be a hardware problem too happen at that ngam ngam time

Okay that is too complicated I know but then again this is a built-in camera so unless you can find a program to test I think they are many that you can search for maybe then you are able to check if the camera is not broken or not.

Try all the ways that you think you can you can firstly to determine if it is hw or not because if it is hw you and me we cant do anything

the only hope that it is just a driver problem that your Windows doesn't want to install

So for now that is the hold of jective to find out to eliminate to find out to eliminate then come back share with us what are your findings
