Job Title : IT Team Lead
Job Desciption : Manage all IT infrastructure within the company regionally, dotted line reporting to global
Years spent in company : 3+
Company : US-based multinational
Industry : energy
Tenure : Permanent

Highest paper qualification/ education background : MBA
salary : RM27k per month. Performance bonus RM50-70k annually. Stock grant RM100-150k annually.

Good company to work for, terrible industry to be in for the next many years to come. For those job hunting out there, lots of jobs with fantastic work life balance available as well. I'm in the office 8ish in the morning, out by 5pm. Maybe one evening call a week, can't help it with a multinational. This is not the first company I've worked at with decent pay and good work life balance so don't give up.

Hi, are you specialised onpremise infrastructure? cloud native? or hybrid?

Most of the work today is still on premise eg. high transactional/large datasets but many have moved to cloud native eg. ERP or email. The former will likely go to hybrid eventually.
I'm in oil and gas/energy. Think exploration, subsurface, drilling. Not business IT...

that's really great... hopefully one day I can reach the same stage... I'm in data analytic + cloud infrastructure now (Azure, AWS)

Job Title : Sr. Project Manager
Job Desciption : Manage multiple projects for the largest cloud computing company in the world. Mainly on software development and migration. Truthfully I do pretty much anything.
Years spent in company : 1st month
Company :
Industry : Computing Software
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Mid-level manager
Experience before joining : 6 years
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Master's Degree
salary : [yearly] USD 120k base + ~USD70k bonus, stocks + USD500/month transportation allowance
Location: New York City

Similar to Igloo0000, I have never worked in Malaysia before and started my career in the States.
From looking through Glassdoor, a similarly titled position in Malaysia for a large US company pays RM20k-RM25k per month. What do you all think? I know it cannot be direct conversion of 1USD=RM4 but my feeling is that RM25k/month in KL is pretty comfortable, especially with a working spouse.

I am very interested since I'm considering transferring to the Malaysia/Singapore office with my company and would like to know the market rate.

Hello Anti,

Do you know any powershell administration? Can you make decision in your company IT infrastructure? 5 years is a good amount of experience that can be paired with cloud. Start learning how AWS and azure can replace your on premises AD, backup etc. If you want to know further you can pm me

Kind Regards

Not too sure mate. I mean for my case, I do not own any pro-cert. I failed my CCNA back in 2013 and never underwent for any exam till date. Some who own this might command better salary, though some might not. It really depends on other skills as well and how diverse one can be.

Yes I agree, median household income did increase but so does the inflation + expenses. Not being careful with current and future expenses, one can plunge into the depth of financial woes easily.
Yes bro I am in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

Wow, that's great. Wondered how much I actually worth if I come back to malaysia for work.. I'm specialised in BI and cloud deployment.

I guess you'll land somewhere 10-15k if you have some 8-10 years exp.

BI/analytics talent demand outstrips supply by a huge margin everywhere in the world.
But yeah don't see a point to go back honestly.

Unless I met my financial goal and are going back to semi-retire.

I think you are working with facebook right? I work with a leading consulting partner that uses Qlik intensively, (One of the BI software leader in gartner quadrant). I'm now venturing into more opensource ETL based utilising AWS. Qlik is great as it provide a spectrum of BI life span including ETL + data association modeling, but in the same time, very costly.
