I know without a doubt this career field is underpaid. I'm always interested to go into finance industry, and I'm pretty good in math and statistics as well. Is there a way for me to chart my career path towards financial industry?

lets just say the allowances are not worth mentioning, so yeah it's pretty much just rm4300.

to the guy wondering about the salary discrepancy, not sure what's causing that. maybe because my job is more into design, and the other guy's more into production? I dunno. But my company is OEM.

Just a brief update to my pay due to the increment effective Feb 2016. I received an increment of about 15% due to a promotion, if without promotion, normal increment should be around 7-8%. I'm curious to what my fellow engineers (in similar role) are earning with 5 years of experience, especially in the Penang market.

Not yet, the promotion to senior might happen after another year or two. This 'promotion' is simply because i was given more role/job scope.
