this is interesting topic. i have a question:

i am earning RM7k+ in malaysia. i own 2 cheap house 1 car and have nice food every weekend, sometime buy some gadget for myself, can bring my gf go outside and can spend my parents dinner.

some 1 offered me SGD 5k to be based in Singapore. is 5k SGD enough to live the same life as in Malaysia? i have no problem taking public transport in SG. and i can rent a house in SG.. hows the food cost, living cost, mobile phone bill, and etc etc.. what i need to look at?
*
Expense is about $1500 avg pp in SG. This is for single room rental, public transport, meal at kopitiam daily and occasional entertainment e.g. cinema and eat good food, mobile etc etc

Job Title : Project Engineer
Job Desciption : Assist PM, manage on going project, liaison with Consultant and subcon, more on project management
Years spent in company : 2 year + 1 month
Company : Local
Industry : Construction
Employment Level : Junior
Experience before joining : 2 years
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Bachelor Degree
salary : RM 3900 + RM 150 (allowance)
Location: KL
Age : 28 yo

before i join this company i was working in manufacture as a design engineer (in electronic). since the economy down and a lot electronic base manufacture started to retrench, so i jump ship to construction to be project engineer in electrical. the jobscope actually quite different compare to engineer in manufacture, so when i join this company only can consider as fresh grad status.

i feel kinda sad when i saw a lot sifu here already earning 5k and above at my age. my current position actually is not a electrical engineer at all, i m also doing mechanical, process and touch up a little on civil. i scare i wont be so competitive when i jump for higher pay, because all work i do only half bottle, not very detail and technical.

Any advise.

Project engineer/ project manager is a management role. You are the most visible in the project because you are suppose to lead the team working with/for you. Dont expect to go technical again if you decided to go this path after few years unless you are willing to from scratch.

Job Title : Project Manager
Job Desciption : Monitor construction project (however now more on product r&d)
Years spent in company : just joined
Company : MNC
Industry : Construction company
Tenure :Permanent
Employment Level : Project Manager
Experience before joining : 6 yrs
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree
salary : Sgd 5.5k + AWS + performance bonus
benefits : medical, insurance, employer cpf, handphone allowance etc, which are norm in industry
Location: Singapore

My original scope of works should be Construction related, but company got a R&D with one of the Client to implement new construction method/system, hence send me to manage the R&D project team. Is a good start for me and great learning experience, however, i become more like a product development PM than construction site PM

Previously all experience are under M&E Consultant, for 6 yrs
1st company - 2.4k (one yr)
2nd company - 2.8k - 3k - 3.2k (3 yrs)
3rd company - 4k - 4.2k (2yrs)
Now 4th company (Contractor firm) - 5.5k + AWS

While i think salary wise still below the market rate, as normally PM should be 7k to 8k, however, just jump from Consultant to Contractor, so no experience, no bargain power.
