Job Title : Assistant Fund Manager
Job Description : Admin work (review performance), help fund managers execute transactions, looking at domestic stocks and recommend to buy/sell/hold, manage a paper (mock) portfolio. But right now mostly training to become a full-fledged fund manager. Cant wait to have my own portfolio!

which area of law r u in?

if you're really serious, get CFA certification (level 1 at least) and cold call every investment banks you can think of (cimb, kenanga, KAF, maybank, midf, to name a few). they usually take in people who are passionate about the market. i've seen people with law, geology(wtf), and many other backgrounds which are not even remotely related to finance in this industry. impress your interviewers with your knowledge about the stock/bond market. seriously, the working hours can get really crazy in certain seasons, so pls dont come here if you just want to 'try'. the common disease in this industry is hypertension, especially during bad market where your portfolio's loss can be in the millions or even billions (if you're a portfolio manager). if you can stomach that, give it a go other than that, you can become a research analyst, or an economist(this one they usually take ppl with economics background), or be in sales positions, or others in middle or back office. depends on what you want to do.

That's the beauty of CFA. Any Dick, Tom and Harry can take it.
