Actually this is not the best offer I received. Another insurance company in Boston offers me more, but I turned them down because money is not my main concern. The scopes and responsibilities of the position are more important, the potential for future opportunities in NYC is way better.

Something I find interesting in this post is that some people here say they are Executive/Sr. Executive level, and I start wondering do we have a different definition of what Executive means. Executive level in my understanding is people above me, probably earning millions a year, with at least an Executive VP title. And I don’t make this up, if you go to global recruiters hiring Executive level people, they are looking for at least USD 300-500k base plus all sort of bonuses/stocks which can stack up to million.

This is annual or monthly salary? any other allowance such as house, car, etc?

I was only a manager (not even sr mgr) when I left Big 4 (with last pay of rm9k). I was lucky as I was headhunted to join an international middle eastern boutique investment firm (based in KL) with 30% jump from my last drawn pay in Big 4.

From there on, I received a few job offers along the way, and my boss (in my last company and current company) counter-offered with a bump in my salary to match the said offers.

So that's how my monthly fixed base now is more than RM20k. So it pays to be really good at what you do, and impress your bosses and be valuable to your organization.

P/s: now no more calls from headhunters for the past 2 years. It shows that the job market is really bad.

If all the offers along the way come from the same headhunter, I think the headhunter got scolded from your employer for trying to hijack u.
get to know few good headhunter and new good opportunity will come along the way..
