Recently I went for some interview and got only "verbal" confirmation so far that this "BIG" japanese company is planning to hire me based on the HR verbal confirmation with me..

New salary : RM 5.3K no allowance
Benefit : more or less the same as my current company, 14 days AL, medical.. etc..

I need some sharing and ideas from members here :

1. Worth to jump on the new ship? Considering I "may" sacrifice a managerial pose in my current company.. I can only foresee a AM position at current company, due to non MIA members..

2.  New ship = more job + OT + possibility weekend work.. Old ship more flexible whether to OT or not , and working on weekend is definitely lesser..

3. Current company : already 2 years no increment, and this year no vitamin B due to poor performance of company.. New company : increment possible and bonus possible but it's not contractual..

4. New company can learn many new things due to manufacturing.. Current only doing trading although they have recently purchased new factory..

I hope i am making the right decision to move to this new company, even though my FC told me to re-consider since it's not really a BIG jump from current position..

chicken: my FC also told me its not really that worth to jump for just a mere 6% .. He used this reason to ask me to stay and give them another 2 years to turn around the company from loss to profit.. What's your say on this ?

belphegor: the current company knows how much the new company is paying me, at this moment they can only open for discussion to match my new company salary, which is still subject to final approval from MD.. Whereas new job is totally different, there's definitely plenty to learn from manufacturing (they've described some during the interview too) and I had already expecting myself to have a more hectic work load in this new company.. Distance for current company is nearer by at least 10km but there's jam, so takes me 45 minutes to reach compared to new company further but no jam and takes me only 30 minutes to reach.. Toll wise is the same, parking is free at new company, but not that significant since the current company parking is around RM30 +- per month..

Questions for thought :
1. Should you gain more experience / different knowledge from different company culture and industry sacrificing monetary terms?
2. Considering first question, at this age should I be focused more on learning as opposed to monetary terms?
3. Considering second question, at my age just starting a family , what should be a better choice? Experience VS money ? ( assuming you have a decent life now, wife is actually working, going to have 1st kid in this coming year, at the moment sufficient money to pay mortgage, car loan and house expense.. )

Anyone can share their experience.. they call this, mid life crisis eh ?

The main reason why i tender before i sign the letter is because of the notice period.. I suppose to serve 3 months notice but cut short 2 months after deduct leave + compensation back to company .. So the later i tender, the more i need to compensate..

So seems like short term saving is causing me big problem now

Latest update from me :

Called this morning to the "BIG" japanese company and told me my offer got rejected due to lack of MIA membership for that kind of salary.. Should had smell something rotten since they are not picking up my call..

Not that I feel sad or what because i didnt get the offer just didnt like the way they handle things unprofessionally..

So lesson learnt.. Never ever decide anything until something concrete is up.. Verbal is just words that dissappear in thin air

Of course we need to go through interviews, if pass the interview then we can transfer from A dept to B dept

Just wondering is the offers reasonable

Mileage might vary la for different people. I started like under 3k and now is in the high five figures in just 5 years.

Timing, luck and opportunities sometime comes together.

That's not bad, I only reached 4k after 5 years. Thankfully I learnt from my mistakes and hit 5 figures not long after that. I won't be surprised if you hit it sooner than I did. So don't worry too much about it.
