Job Title : Sales Exec
Job Desciption : Construction Equipment
Years spent in company : 6 Month
Company : MNC
Industry : Construction
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Junior
Experience before joining : Fresh Grad
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree in Business Admin

Everyday still questioning myself, whether this is the best choice I ever had?
Salary incremental is quite slow and low, chance of getting promotion also uncertain. Am I underpaid?

Still considering whether constuction industry suitable for me or not? Anyone here can give me advice?

I also planning work with my family business ( manufacturing) in the future, although it a small shop business only.Since I was thinking family business is th only way to  achieve better career path.

Your degree are somehow not related to your working tittle. As Sales Executive are normally has misc allowance for travel and commission/incentive based on performance, if not wrong. So that could be normally a reason that basic salary increment is quite slow. Which when you compare to a accountant for example, the position normally only got basic, and their salary increment is do more stuffs. (As far as I know)

As for nowadays, actually tittle doesn't mean anything. Some company hiring fresh graduate sales executive as sales manager and doing almost the same thing.

And construction project could earn a lot of commission...

Well for if you are incharge of your family business growth = your career growth, when you're the boss. I can't say much on this, my family doesn't own a business.

Thank you for your advice, Previously, I was choosing an admin job in retail industry during myinternship,, afterthat I realise I dont like the working life as 9 to 5, and I decided to choose this outdoor sales as my job, it is quite challenging, because I need to learn about construction thing and often go to the site.

But somehow, less local young people is joining this kind of job nowadays, so I lack of topic when joining the friends gathering. And I was invited by my friends to do property agent or insurance agent, sound like an easy job to earn a lot, it is real? And I was not sure whether construction industry is my career path or other business might be better?

The questions asked is something that only you yourself have the answers to.
A career/business where one thrives in, may very well be a living hell for another. However, that's not to say that no lessons can be learned from it; or for someone whom was unsuccessful in the early stages to turn-around and be a success in the same field of work over a certain period of time.

I believe it all depends on where your interests and passions lie.

On your question of the best industry(ies) to be in...Well, IMHO (and to generalize) there isn't really such a thing.
All industries will go through up-and-down cycles.

The same goes for businesses. Only the resilient (or innovative/highly adaptable) ones tend to stay around for long (but pls don't quote me on that as there are some businesses which defies normal business cycles/trends).

Again, all that I've said above is a broad generalization on industries and businesses.

I have friends who had left from TM to venture outside due to higher salary offer and position.
Yes of course the benefits are great in TM, but you need to know what are your career goal and advancement.
If you feel you need to challenge yourself and go out of your comfort zone, then try apply for higher post (and perhaps get the PMP cert. This will certainly get higher salary). But just remember, not all are greener on the other side.

Well almost every job startup you will need to learn your company product/services, especially position related to sales. Cannot escape. May I ask that your company doesn't offer you commission/incentives?

So on the lack of topic when friends gathering, well it is happening to everyone though since is not majority of people working on same industry or position, you get what I mean? My friends tittle are like personal assistance, software consultant, business development, quantity surveyor and so on and on. But we get to talk some topic we interested to.
And less likely people wants to share like how to code this program, how he drinks talk with bosses for sales, how many steel required to build a house/building...

For property agent or insurance agent, yeah they can earn a lot and that's certainly. But you will likely need a broad of people network, is a job that earn mostly in commission, their basic is very low and they have no EPF(don't know true or not as my insurance agent said this to me, with her mercedes-benz car. LOL) It's more challenging than your position right now.

Well I advice you don't quit now, as it will affect your resume and you will just somehow learning something half way and abandoned it. If you quit now, your next boss will confirm question you.

My advice is you work for 2-3 years, then the next job interview will likely be easier. But is still up to your decision.

Yeah i know. I been comparing alot with my private friends. TM benefits and kwsp monthly does wins all. Only salary wise. But once go manager above should be ok. Just this assistant level is kinda low. Guess i'll be staying then since i dont have a strong cable to pull me back in. Got the TM job also due to scholarship.

Good to heard the feedback from you, atleast I feel that my stress level had been lower down😀

My salary doesn't provide commission or incentive, bonus also is an another question mark, but it provide claim, covered by mileage, toll and parking.

From Now on,I will continue to work on my current job position , continue growing up within this companyand try to open up myself the another field of industry..😄.
