Got OT? How's the bonus like?
*
No OT, good years usually double digits. Bad years, 5-7 months.

If you're not fresh grad, the only feasible way I could think of, is to take Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification,  which is incredibly difficult. The cost is quite bearable, about RM4k per level, and you can take one level per year. There  are three levels, and failure is a norm.

With a CFA, you can pretty much go anywhere in the investment banking world, and people would gladly offer you very high salary for that. I don't know, at least 10k, perhaps? Yup, CFA is the golden standard in financial analyst world.

If I remember correctly- only graduates with a quant background can read the CFA, right?

I considered that a while ago but never got to it.

you want to explore PM? to be a PM, you don't need to be expertise in coding but at least you must know what it is.
PM is all about management.

hope this helps
*
Yep i am currently like half of coder and half of PM (Product Manager + Project Manager), but actually I want to walk the path of PM because I don't really like to code.

What skill sets do you think as a PM must pickup? other than soft skills.

Are u fresh grad? Regardless of your background, you can always apply for investment bank management trainee programmes. Be aware that these programmes are very competitive. Strong background in finance/economics/mathematics/statistics is beneficial, but I have seen those with backgrounds like engineering, law, biology English literature etc. Fluency in English, written and spoken is absolutely essential, as the lingua franca of the finance world, without a doubt, English. Critical thinking is highly valued as well.

Thanks a lot Radithnya! these information really helps!
Ya I am not fresh graduate already, was working since after my diploma and now in web development field, but I am thinking to switch my career because I lost my passion on it.

I am thinking about the CFA too, as per you said I believe it is really the path I need to go if I want to join investment line. Maybe will pursue CFA after I finished my parttime degree.

I honestly think I'm being overworked and underpaid. I have to go back late frequently, and come to the office on weekends. I think I'm gonna jump ship soon.

But you are being compensated with quite high bonus (5-7 months during bad days), which is quite acceptable, plus the company value your OT work.

I'm 28 this year and thinking of starting a family. But I feel my pay quite low to start one. Currently job hunting and asking for RM 5K. Is it ok or should I lower the expectation?

I've just completed my degree last year off-campus and thought is time to leave my current company.
