actually the question is relevant

the mechanism of bill payment is
1. we pay Sam via credit card and the transaction goes through credit card terminal
then,
2. Sam process the bill payment for us via e pay terminal

either one or both the terminal down, the transaction for bill payment cannot be processed
*
Another minor issue is that Sam's cashier system cannot check the validity of the bill account number (be it TMNet Streamyx, Unifi or TNB) first, before charging the payment amount to our credit card.

For my case, after charging the payment amount to my credit card, the payment to my TMNet Streamyx bill was unsuccessful, and then the cashier had to void the credit card transaction. It failed, as the cashier mistakenly chose the option of "Streamyx", instead of "TM Bill"

Quite a hassle, as you can see.

It would be better that Sam's cashier system can first check the validity of the bill account number (via ePay), before charging the payment amount to our credit card. I am not complaining, but such check will avoid the trouble of voiding credit card transaction, for unsuccessful bill payment. smile.gif

usually we just total up grocery and petrol then multiply with 5% to check the cb.
*
Maybank actually calculates the cashback, based on 5 % of each transaction (petrol or grocery) rounded down to the nearest cent.

If we take 5 % of the total of all transactions done in a month (petrol and grocery), the calculated cashback is higher than the actual cashback shown in the credit card statement. As such, we will lose a few cents of cashback. sad.gif

Found out why my TP is more!

It was due to Platinum 2X Birthday Treats....  biggrin.gif  on statement!
*
Nice, I too received additional 1x Treatpoints (shown as Platinum 2X Birthday Treats on statement), on top of my grocery spending on Friday and Saturday on my birthday month. rclxms.gif

Just enjoy it. smile.gif It appears that this is an unadvertised feature of Maybank Islamic MasterCard Ikhwan, and it provides an excuse to spend slightly more on grocery on Friday and Saturday on our birthday month. The effective cashback on our birthday month would be 5.25 %.

For sure, Platinum 2X Birthday Treats is not applicable for the other 11 months.

But I thought if you use on Fri and Sat for groceries and petrol not entitled to points. So you are saying if pump petrol or buy groceries on Fri/Sat on bday month entitled to 1x point?
*
The official terms and conditions of this card state that Treatpoints will not be given for petrol and grocery spending on Friday and Saturday.

However, thus far, dannyw and I reported that we did get additional 1x Treatpoints (shown as Platinum 2X Birthday Treats on our statement) on our birthday month.

For me, 1x Treatpoints was given for grocery spending on Friday and Saturday on my birthday month. No Treatpoints was given for petrol spending on Friday and Saturday on my birthday month.

Although it states ''Platinum 2X Birthday Treats", Treatpoints given is just 1x, so you can say that the description is slightly misleading.

So, if there is anyone else who obtained "Platinum 2X Birthday Treats", please report your experience here, so that we would know how to get the additional 1x Treatpoints, on top of 5% cashback. smile.gif

Anyway, does anybody know if I don't use the card after it's activated, will it be suspended later because I never use it? unsure.gif

Well, you can just swipe about RM 5 once on either petrol or grocery, on Friday or Saturday. That way, the majority of your spending is still on WISE card, and you have used Ikhwan MasterCard once.

If your wife is working, try to ask your wife to apply as a principal card holder of Maybank Islamic MasterCard Ikhwan.

You as principal card holder, and your wife as supplementary card holder:
- Maximum RM 50 cashback per month, as cashback for supplementary card holder is added to that of principal card holder.

You as principal card holder, and your wife as principal card holder:
- Maximum RM 100 cashback per month.

There is no such thing as e commerce MCC. They are identified by another code known as Posmode. Their MCC relates what type of business they are running.
*
Thanks for the information, Wongchoy.

POSMODE is only applicable for online transactions, right? Is there a list of various POSMODE codes, that classify different types of online transactions? If the list does exist, it should be similar to MCC list posted by ronnie.

You got it all wrong. While MCC refers to the type of business the merchant are running, eg MCC5411 for a supermarket, Posmode refers to whether the transaction is processed thru swiping, chip reading, mail order, telephone order, direct debit or online.

Oops, sorry for my mistake. Thank you for your explanation. notworthy.gif

I'm not too sure if I can change the statement date same as Maybank2Cards. hmm.gif
*
The statement date of my Maybank Islamic MasterCard Ikhwan card is same as that of Maybank 2 Card. As such, you should be able to change the statement date to suit your needs.

On birthday month, you will get TPx2 for all spending, but spend groceries and petrol on Fri & Sat only get TPx1 + 5% cash back.
*
Yeah, finally there is someone else who has the similar experience of getting 1 x TreatsPoints, for grocery and petrol spending on Friday and Saturday on birthday month.

Good post, ymtee988.

This unadvertised feature of the credit card should be added into the first post of this thread. smile.gif
