So it works? I've never tried with my current Maybank 2 cards so I am not sure if it works. Hong Leong Wise is pretty particular on this.

Out of curiosity, why would you ever prefer to go in?

I haven't tried myself, and don't foresee any reason to try.

QUOTE(Mr.Docter @ Nov 28 2015, 08:19 PM)
Wah, reading through the comments in this thread. Kinda hard to get this card?

How can Maybank is the one whom offering this card to me?

Is it due to my ASB loan?
*
Actually only from LYN I hear this card is hard to apply, and for me it was very easy (also for my family member).

Unfortunately bank's approval processes are opaque so hard to say. Just apply is the easiest way. If they offer then even better, this is a good card for petrol/groceries.

QUOTE(Mr.Docter @ Nov 28 2015, 08:23 PM)
How much is the late payment charges?

And how much is the interest only?
Thanks for the advice!
Never ever take the late payment charges. Banks are legalized loan sharks. The rates are never worth it.

General case for Malaysian credit cards - AT LEAST 18% interest rate. On total amount outstanding, and applied daily (that means if you swipe after you're already late, they charge for that amount each day too). And backdated to your statement date if you've passed to 20 day period (meaning after 1 month, instead of paying for 10 days interest you're paying 30 days).

QUOTE(Mr.Docter @ Nov 28 2015, 08:23 PM)
I don't even have the chance to swipe around this card. Just my wife asking me the question and I don't know the answer lol.

Talking about convenience, practically speaking, what the different I swiping around my debit card compare to my credit card (putting aside credit card's benefits)? Because my debit card always have excess at the end of month.
*

Credit cards give better benefits. No debit card gives 5% cash back for petrol/groceries, for example. Here in these topics (this sub-forum) always got people discussing how to maximize that.

But those benefits are no use if you fork out the late payment charges. Bank sure untung then.

Also, time value of money. If I swipe debit card RM1000, I 'lose' the money instantly. But with credit card I get an average of 15+20 days (more than a month) of interest free period to pay it back. Earning interest on the money too.

So in the case of RM1k monthly spending, you 'push back' your payment by about a month every month, after a year you could have accumulated RM30-RM40 (FD interest rate) in interest compared to using debit card.

Better wait for the announcement of the revise benefit if the rumors are true
*
No reason to wait. If announced still will have buffer period in which you can enjoy cashback. Even if that's not long, rather you get something than nothing?

Credit cards are easy to cancel too.

Would like to clarify,

Most CC that offers petrol cash back means strictly petrol? or they meant petrol as in diesel also included.

Sorry for the naive question, since i haven't seen diesel cashback card.
*
The bank only sees the terminal used. Some (OCBC Titanium last time when it was good, HLB WISE now) specify that only at dispenser will get cash back. Some (like Ikhwan and I think PBB VS) give for spending at counter also.

So whether you're pumping diesel or petrol does not matter. Only where you do the payment.

Hi bro and sis, need your help here, is there any way for me to request for usage verification every time I want to use the card?Like at the time of swap, I need to enter PIN number or anything. I'm quite worry as this is my first time of having quite high CL.
*
If your card is stolen or misused, just report ASAP. Even if it's used before you report, you have limited liability (RM200 I believe) for the losses, the bank will eat the rest.

Unless of course you didn't report it for a long (dunno how long) period of time or something like that.

That's why banks are so quick to call when suspicious transactions are done and sometimes even bar your card (for example if you suddenly spend overseas). They're protecting their money not yours.

I wonder how does people with unlimited CL protect their card..
*
While I don't recommend simply not bothering about your card's safety, the one who needs to protect the card is the bank not you.

When I used my AEON credit card to purchase RM7k worth of Airasia tickets (Phillipines subsidiary) I got a phone call from AEON credit services in 2 minutes. When I purchased another RM3k worth a few minutes later they called again.

Similarly when I swipe for some larger than usual amount I can suddenly get a call from Maybank.

One of the biggest benefit for us as consumer using credit card as compared to cash is protection. If you get robbed and you're holding cash 15k good luck to you, it's total write off most of the time. If you get robbed and you're holding a credit card with RM1.5 million credit limit, you probably won't even lose anything if you can straight call the bank and report. They can instantly shut down the card. Even if the robber immediately spend, you're only liable for small amount (RM200). Bank is liable, but perhaps bank won't pay the merchant unless merchant can produce signed slip with same signature as the bank has in records (most merchants I've seen don't check).

Do u notice Your min pay has gone to zero? If yes means mbb has received your payment
*
Not a safe way, as if the min payment is less than the received cashback amount that min pay will still show 0 (assuming cashback received after statement date). Transaction History is the best way to see.

Get AEON Big for Sunday. Unless you're a heavy driver Fri-Sat (Ikhwan) + Sun (AEON Big) should be enough.
