I'm staying in a high rise building, subscribed to 30Mbps, speed is between 28~29mbps.

Have you lodge a report with the UNIFI centre? They are quite efficient i solving issues now.

My case:-
I subscribed to VIP5 previously and then update to 30mbps but then after 3 working days,speed still remains at 4.8mpbs but I check my account, already upgraded to 30mpbs. So I called the centre and they open a report number for me.

Their technician called me the next day and "reset" some port and voila, 29mpbs.

So lame i been using telekom since dial up 14.4k when i were only getting charge 10 cent PER CALL almost 20 years now. upgrade to ISDN then streamyx and then unifi.

So frustrating always get different answer, sales say this account maintenance say that, tm point say this that..now let see what lowyat says smile.gif

I think "maybe" this RM179 promo price is only valid for online signup? Same thing happened to me when I signed up for the VIP5. Apparently for some odd reasons, I cannot apply for VIP5 online so after a thousand tries, i got fed up and drop by my nearest TMpoint. The thing is this, if you sign up online, the 1st month subscription fee is waived but not so if you sign up at TMpoint. After inquiring, the TMpoint told me that I'm not eligible for the 1st month subscription waiver. I think you may be a "victim" of this.

What the salesperson told you may be true. You cannot have 2 services registered on the same address. So, it's either "this" or "that", no "this" and that". It's either you terminate or you opt for an upgrade. Regarding your old equipment, I think not too much to worry because if your upgrade is successful then you will be bound by a fresh contract for 24 months, i think the warranties also gets renewed but just to be safe, check with them OR alternatively, these devices could be "damaged" by "Acts of God". *who knows*.

Can anyone recommend me a decent router?

The one currently supplied by Unifi isn't "bad" but its signal isn't strong enough. Couldn't get any when I'm in my room. My budget is no more than RM200.00.

WOAH! naise!! my condominium unit is 2k sqft but if you can get 1 wifi bar signal from 3 floors down then I think i shouldn't have any problem covering the entire unit.

what is the ongoing market rate for this router?

compatible with unifi 30? just plug and play or requires installation etc?

by the way guys, i'm changing that slowpoke default TM router to Asus but i'm now stuck between 2; the RT-N12-D1 and the RT-N12-HP.

the latter is more expensive by RM100.00 but is the difference worth it? Has anyone tried it?

You can't. It's bundled together. I was surprised at first to have seen this being billed to me because it was not stated in anywhere during my sign up nor was I informed verbally on this. You can only terminate it after the 24 months contract period is over.

Damn it.

I don't even use HyppTv. Shit!

Agree. I highly doubt TM is capable of blocking partial access to Netflix. Besides, it's not like they have a clear guideline as to what is allowable. Unless, they want to enforce censorship on the movies (eg. Games of Thrones) laugh.gif

Yes, I was trying to register with my CIMB card. Is it because CIMB recently blocked all transaction where the physical is not present? If that's the case, I have already requested CIMB to allowed such transaction =(

if you upgrade your current package then no modem.

in order to get a new modem, you need to register for a fresh account.

new modem/router will only be provided if it's a fresh registration.

i'm on UNIFI 30 so does anyone knows how to set up the Asus router?

I have the silver modem/router by unifi and apparently, it uses a wire port called "PON" which connects straight to the router.

I have a DB Box
