Calling 100 sucks... everytime i call , they say ok wait will check , transfer call to tech on hold...20-30 minutes .. i fed up and hang up..
Today i call on Hold.. for 50 minutes ..wtf..

So frustrating always get different answer, sales say this account maintenance say that, tm point say this that..now let see what lowyat says smile.gif

I went through the same torture as you had with the 100 calls. Waited for 20-40 mins in my 4 calls to them. Wonder how many 100 operators do they have and how many calls do they get per hour.

And for all that hassle, I got nothing in return. They said no to my request for free calls for the RM189 package.

I was looking forward to the Unifi upgrade but it is turning into a nasty torture for me. Ha.

The thing is this, if you sign up online, the 1st month subscription fee is waived but not so if you sign up at TMpoint. After inquiring, the TMpoint told me that I'm not eligible for the 1st month subscription waiver. I think you may be a "victim" of this.
I wanted to upgrade and saw the free 1 month online offer, tried to upgrade via online for the 1 month saving. Learnt later that the free 1 month online offer is for new subscription only. Not for upgrade.

Suggested to TM to edit their web page stating that the 1 month offer is for new subscription only. In return, I got a few emails and a phone call from TM on my suggestion. Why is it so difficult to edit their web page to make things clearer for their customers? TM is too big, too fat, too many layers, too many SOP to follow???

Air Asia got into trouble in Aust with their misleading/incomplete web content. The above falls in the same category in my view.

Anyway, hope that they will state the offer for new subscription only to avoid people like me trying this and that to upgrade, only to be disappointed at the end.

Cheerio.

Is your contract over? Instead of calling them, maybe you should wait for them to call you and offer best deal to renew your contract for another 2 years. More than 2 years ago, I called them for upgrade to vip10 at rm179 while those getting calls from tm got it at rm169. This time they called me several months ago without 600mins free call and I declined, but now with 600mins free call, I don't hesitate to accept.

Already 2 years now.

They called some months ago for an upgrade but I declined. Then I did not need the high speed. Now I do due to streaming.

Telemarketing called me last week and I asked for the free calls. She said NO!

So, UNifi is my enemy no 1 now. Ha.

Going for streamyx 8 Mbps now. Should be sufficient for my use here. Have been on 1 and 2 Mbps for the past 13 yrs. This will be a blessing in disguise, saving me RM50/month! Ha.

Just speaking my mind here.

TM wants to phase out VIP5/10/20 and is now offering customers extra packages to change to Unifi 30.

Months later, there will be some die-hard VIP customers who have not changed. What will TM do as they want to phase out the VIP packages? Extra incentives, I bet! Ha. So hang on with your VIP! Ha.

Above is only my view. I am not liable for your action directly or indirectly resulting from following my view above. Ha.

Not a Unifi question here.

For those who had streamyx 8 Mbps before, do they need to come to your house to set it up? Or just pass the package to you and you do it yourself? Plug and play mah.

Hope you can help in providing me with some data to see the differences in browsing (local & foreign) speed for different broadband speed.

average loading time for:

domestic =
international =

Your broadband Mbps =

your location =
time test done =

Hope to get at least 5 sets of data and I will provide the summary here.

Thanks.

Appreciate those with VIP5/10/20 or streamyx to try and feedback here as well. Interested to know the difference.

Yours seems to be slower than the rest. Maybe it was due to the heavy traffic when you did the test.

If you don't mind, can you do 2 more tests (say, one tonight and another one tomorrow morning) and let me know the results? Thanks.

Thanks to all who have participated in my browsing speed survey.

I asked for 5 participants. Now I want more as the trend will be better with more numbers. Ha.

So please spare 1-2 mins to do the test. PM me your results.

I will compile the survey and present the results here by Tues (10-nov).

Many thanks.

P/S For the IT and statistics sifu, I know there are many uncontrolled variables and my survey will not be conclusive. I am not aiming for rocket science accuracy (1.0001 vs 1), just a ball park observation. Thanks.

Just got my HyppTV for about a week now.

Sometimes, the sound from the HyppTV channels sound rather weird, high pitch, not clear. Moving from from one channel to next sometimes clears the problem. Any one having similar problem?

if you can prove that its really slow, then I think you got a valid point to do so, try to negotiate with 100 / Customer Service, if all else fails, drag SKMM along. What exactly you think that its slow compared to VIP20? According to their technician, if your YouTube video loads without stutter, then everything its fine, if you're able to download up to 3GB per hour (for 50Mbps) not sure on 30Mbps, then you are good. That's their calculation. So, I'm pretty sure you can break that through easily.
*
Interesting. Did a quick calc. See below.

Attached Image

I did it for 2 cases 3 GB and 3 Gb.

Even with 3 GB/h, the actual download is only 7 Mbps (13% of what one pays for 50 Mbps).

I thought the norm is 80% of the purchased speed, i.e. 80% of 50 = 40 Mbps.

Daylight robbery if it is only 13% of what you pay for. COMPLAIN to TM!

Cheerio.

As promised (though I am 1 day late), below is the summary of the browsing time survey I did. Many thanks to those who participated in this.

I have very limited streamyx data and so I grouped them as 1 parameter (1, 2, 4 & 8 Mbps).

Attached Image

What I takeaway from this are:

AA
as expected, shorter browsing time as Mbps increases.

BB
however, the gain in shorter browsing time is not inversely linearly proportional to the increase in Mbps. E.g., 4 sec for 30 Mbps, expect to get 2.4 sec at 50 Mbps but got 3.5 sec. For me, will I upgrade from 30 to 50 Mbps? Only if the extra $ is small, i.e. worth it.

P/S The +/- 1 SD (standard deviation) shows the range with 68% confidence level.

PP/S IT, statistics gurus will argue that my data may not be normally distributed to start with and thus this +/- 1 SD is invalid. Ha.
